Luau, The Main Campfire, Friday evening

The main campfire had been turned into a tropical paradise... without the tropics. There were leis and grass skirts to wear, tropical music playing, a buffet table, and the infamous Limbo Stick of Destiny, an artifact brought back to America from World War II. Noody knows what happens when a person wins a limbo competition involving the Limbo Stick of Destiny, but several experts on the subject suggest that "absolutely nothing happens except maybe you win a little trophy."

It was party time at the Fandom High Summer Camp.

[OOC: OCD is up. Yes, there is pig, poi, and sometimes the band will switch from generic tropical music to 60's beach movie music, or maybe reggae, or Raffi. They're unpredictable like that.

The luau takes place during a long break in the rain that [livejournal.com profile] fh_weather is reporting. Yes, I'm modding the weather. Admin privilege.]

Peter laughed. "As long as the pig doesn't talk to you, I suppose you'll be okay. And I've just been talking to people and watching everyone. It's a bit mad, really. In a good way though."

"I've been meeting new people," Willow said. "Well, person. I didn't know there was anyone left to meet but apparently they sneak students in when we're not looking just to confuse us."

"Who's that?" Peter asked. "And I've been doing the same, a bit. I don't think we're ever going to have met anyone. it's just not possible."

"Paige," Willow said, pointing her out in the crowd. She leaned in to whisper, "she's witchy like me."

Peter nodded, "ah, yes, she's sweet. She and Janet were the first people I met here."

"There's a Janet?" Willow asked. "I don't think I've met a Janet. Oh great, more of them! They're like gnomes!"

Laughing, Peter replied, "at least they don't all decide to hug you and like the gnomes. But Janet was here all last year, I think. So we're the ones appearing to her."

"I guess there's some comfort in that," Willow said. She grinned at him. "And if there students randomly appearing in your bed, this would be something to tell me."

"I'm pretty sure Fandom magic isn't that odd," Peter said, grinning back at Willow. "If I told you, would you protect me from the randomly appearing ones?"

"What sort of witch would I be if I didn't protect my knight from that sort of thing?" Willow replied.

"A very cruel one," Peter said, smiling.

"So not like me at all," Willow concluded. "I have to be very nice to Knights of the Hair Ribbon. Otherwise they'll quit and get new accessories."

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-06-03 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes, we Knights are very sensitive to accessories," Peter said with a nod. "We like to look stylish during tournaments."

Re: Main campfire

"Of course," Willow said. "That way I know who to wave my hanky to."

Re: Main campfire

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-06-03 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Peter grinned very, very widely. "We do all look the same in armor."

Re: Main campfire

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-03 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
"See?" Willow said. "People mocked me for not creating the Knights of the Undershirt, but I told them just wait and see who'd be laughing in the end."

Re: Main campfire

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-06-03 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
"That was a good decision. Undershirts don't tend to be very presentable after a tournament, but hair ribbons one can display anytime."

Re: Main campfire

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-03 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Plus they're very versitle," Willow pointed out. "They could be worn in hair, pinned to a shirt, put into a hat - the name hair ribbon is misleadingly narrow."

Re: Main campfire

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-06-03 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
"We could just call them ribbons. That might be less deceiving to people," Peter said thoughtfully.

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-03 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh sure, but now I have to redo all my letterheads," Willow said.

Re: Main campfire

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-06-03 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
"What do they say now?" Peter asked with a grin.

Re: Main campfire

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-03 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Home Office of the Knights of the Hair Ribbon," Willow said, with a tone of 'obviously.'

Re: Main campfire

[identity profile] once-a-king.livejournal.com 2006-06-03 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Ah, well, of course. I should have known," Peter replied. "Perhaps we ought to just leave it at 'hair ribbon' then."

Re: Main campfire

[identity profile] willbedone.livejournal.com 2006-06-03 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
"It'll save me having to recycle a lot of paper," Willow agreed.

"And we don't want to offend the trees by wasting too much of their products," Peter said. He paused then he said with a grin, "may I claim my dance, Lady?"
