Luau, The Main Campfire, Friday evening

The main campfire had been turned into a tropical paradise... without the tropics. There were leis and grass skirts to wear, tropical music playing, a buffet table, and the infamous Limbo Stick of Destiny, an artifact brought back to America from World War II. Noody knows what happens when a person wins a limbo competition involving the Limbo Stick of Destiny, but several experts on the subject suggest that "absolutely nothing happens except maybe you win a little trophy."

It was party time at the Fandom High Summer Camp.

[OOC: OCD is up. Yes, there is pig, poi, and sometimes the band will switch from generic tropical music to 60's beach movie music, or maybe reggae, or Raffi. They're unpredictable like that.

The luau takes place during a long break in the rain that [livejournal.com profile] fh_weather is reporting. Yes, I'm modding the weather. Admin privilege.]

"I've often been told so." Pippi said turning around in place, making her grass skirt flair and rustle a bit.

"I'm not surprised." Walter settled for bouncing and hopping and and some of that hip wiggling that Nadia's so fond of.

"I didn't think I'd like the cabins as much as I have. I hope we come back soon."

"I couldn't agree more." Pippi said with a grin, "This has been really nice."

"Nadia and I are going to go swimming later," Walter mentioned as the music segued into something slower. If he knew more about music, he'd know it was reggae, but he doesn't, so he didn't, he just knew that the bouncing slowed down.

"I told her about gillyweed before. Are your plants doing well enough that I could get some from you?" He had reasons other than the fact that gillyweed was just a whole lot of fun, but they were sort of personal, even if Pippi had been around when Adella and the vampire had read about Nadia's long swim attempt.

Pippi gave it some thought.

"Yeah, I could do." she said, "The clippings I started growing the last time we used the stuff are growing pretty strong, so it shouldn't cause a problem in the amount of gillyweed we have in the long run to give up some mature ones. We'll have to stop by the dorms to get 'em though."

"Thank you! I need to stop in and check on Vyvyan anyway." Oh this was going to be fun.

"Perfect." Pippi nodded, "Just promise me you won't go to far out... Because of the sharks."

Yes, just the sharks. That's all she's concerned about.

"... Oh and don't forget that the effect only lasts an hour."

Walter good-naturedly pulled a face at her, because he had to. "Yes, Mum."

But because it was Pippi, he also couldn't give her too hard a time about caring, so he reached out to grab her hand for a spin.

"... And eat your veggies or you get no pudding!" She admonished, quoting Pink Floyd's The Wall, incorrectly because she's not as familer with it as some people and she's not actually quoting it, before grabbing Walter's hand.

Weee! Spin!

Walter recognized the tone she was mimicking and, thanks to Empire's brownies, was actually quite familiar with The Wall.

"How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?!"

And spin!

Wee spin!!!

If you spin enough, you don't need brownies! Though brownies are certanly more chocolaty.

"Well, you can, but you shouldn't."
