Luau, The Main Campfire, Friday evening

The main campfire had been turned into a tropical paradise... without the tropics. There were leis and grass skirts to wear, tropical music playing, a buffet table, and the infamous Limbo Stick of Destiny, an artifact brought back to America from World War II. Noody knows what happens when a person wins a limbo competition involving the Limbo Stick of Destiny, but several experts on the subject suggest that "absolutely nothing happens except maybe you win a little trophy."

It was party time at the Fandom High Summer Camp.

[OOC: OCD is up. Yes, there is pig, poi, and sometimes the band will switch from generic tropical music to 60's beach movie music, or maybe reggae, or Raffi. They're unpredictable like that.

The luau takes place during a long break in the rain that [livejournal.com profile] fh_weather is reporting. Yes, I'm modding the weather. Admin privilege.]

Jude's a good boy.

He gets it.

Eventually.

"Nice, uh, lei," he said, a sheepish note creeping into his voice. "Cool."

There's disappointment in her frown. She didn't nearly murder her hand with that needle to get a nice. "Just nice?" she asks. "It's what we made in arts and crafts this week. These are real flowers, too." She idly rubs one of the petals between her fingers. "Well, I thought it was pretty impressive."

Eeep!

"No, no, it's really cool," Jude said hurriedly. "Really pretty. I like it."

Now that he was actually looking at it, it wasn't a lie.

She eyes him with a skeptical grin. "Well, I don't have any cool shirts, so it's all I've got."

Jude scratched the back of his head sheepishly. "No, I mean it. It's really cool." He grinned. "I can totally lend ya one of these shirts if ya want. I got a few of 'em."

She can't help it; she laughs, perhaps even giggled (maybe they put something in the poi), hand drifting up to her mouth. "You own more than one of those? I'm sorry."

"Sorry for laughing at my wardrobe or sorry that I possess such a wardrobe in the first place?" Jude chuckled, not offended by either.

"I think I'm going to go with both," she responds. Between all this smiling and eating, her jaw is going to hurt come tomorrow.

Jude shrugged. "Fair enough," he said mildly.

She'd been really good about keeping her mind off of last night so far, but now, in the lull of conversation, it suddenly assaulted her thoughts. Coughing slightly because, suddenly, her throat needed clearing, her eyes drift to the side and downward. Arms drift in front of her, and her toe stabs at the ground.

"Um, Jude?"

"I, um...I never really got a chance to thank you for last night." Briefly, Sakurazaki looks back to him, smiling, but her gaze quickly, bashfully, almost fearfully dance away. "It was really...very, very nice."

"You're welcome," Jude said with a soft smile. "And thanks, too. I had fun." He hesitated before asking, "So . . . we can do it again sometime?"

She still can't look at him. She's thinking about that kiss again. She can't help it; after managing to push it out of her mind all day, it's coming back with a vengence.

But she's smiling still. "Well," she says, managing to get some of that smiling mirth to pull through the nervousness. "We did say that practise makes perfect, didn't we?"

Jude might have been guilty of a bit of kiss-fixation himself. As in, wanting to do it again. Possibly on the lips. Most definitely a lot.

They really have to stop doing this goofy smiling at each other thing.

"Yeah, we did," he grinned. "You said some Buddhist thing about it and everything."

She laughs, waving her hand dismissively. There's a lot of nervousness behind both of them, despite her attempts to be casual. "I say some Buddhist thing about everything," she says. "But, yes, I think we should give it another try soon." She nods definatively.

"Awesome," he grinned mellowly, picking up on her nervousness but trying to disappate it as best he could. "Whenever you want, whatever you want. Dinner, a movie maybe . . ."

He was also trying not to sound too eager and probably failing more than a little.
