Luau, The Main Campfire, Friday evening

The main campfire had been turned into a tropical paradise... without the tropics. There were leis and grass skirts to wear, tropical music playing, a buffet table, and the infamous Limbo Stick of Destiny, an artifact brought back to America from World War II. Noody knows what happens when a person wins a limbo competition involving the Limbo Stick of Destiny, but several experts on the subject suggest that "absolutely nothing happens except maybe you win a little trophy."

It was party time at the Fandom High Summer Camp.

[OOC: OCD is up. Yes, there is pig, poi, and sometimes the band will switch from generic tropical music to 60's beach movie music, or maybe reggae, or Raffi. They're unpredictable like that.

The luau takes place during a long break in the rain that [livejournal.com profile] fh_weather is reporting. Yes, I'm modding the weather. Admin privilege.]

And that would be Rory wrapping her arms around herself, and decidedly not looking at Parker.

Parker can't tell if that's a rejection or self-protection. Either way, it's no fun.

"Hey."

"Hi," Rory said, barely looking over. "How are you?"

Honest wins out over resentment. "Okay, mostly." Parker glanced away, toward the fire. "Except where things are screwed up. You know."

"Yeah, I know. It kind of sucks when people you care about say really hurtful things to or about other people you care about," Rory noted softly.

Parker's tempted to stalk off, except it's not unfair. "That does go both ways, you know." She rubs at her face. "Even if I regret it."

"Mmm," Rory said noncommittally. "You really hurt him."

Parker's starting to get mad again, and she rolls her eyes. She opens her mouth to say something, then snaps it shut, trying to think of anything to say that wouldn't be cutting.

So it's a full three minutes of seething and hanging onto her temper before she asks, "What did I say, that really hurt his feelings? That wasn't the intention."

"I don't particularly feel like repeating the comparison you made," Rory said, pointing at her neck to remind Parker. "It's moot. It's been said and done."

Parker gritted her teeth. "He overreacted. It was a metaphor. Not a judgment." She folded her arms and admitted, "Although I see how he could have taken it that way."

"All things considered, especially with yours truly brought into the mix? Yeah. So he's hurt. A lot. And that? Is not okay with me," Rory said quietly.

Right. Why is she talking to Rory again?

Parker took a deep breath, and hung onto her composure by her fingernails. "I can see that." Another breath. "And I suppose I can understand it." She swallowed, and turned away. "Sorry to waste your time."

"Right."

Rory actually looked up, hurt. "How many people have you told, anyway? Angela called me. Should I wait for an influx of phone calls from people worried about my safety?" She bit the last word, raising one sarcastic eyebrow.

"I'm no Beka," Parker snarled, turning back to Rory. "I e-mailed Angela because she already knew about Anakin. I didn't think she should come back and walk into this without knowing what we were fighting about, since you were so mad I checked out the prophecy in SC. I wasn't going to tell you that she knew. And I e-mailed Angel. Because your boyfriend was scaring me." She folded her arms. "And still does." She took a step backward. "I haven't told anyone else. Not Liz, not Jack, not Jarod. I wouldn't do that to Logan."

"And that would be why I have no further interest in talking to you," Rory said, matching Parker's hiss. "Bye, Parker."

"Bye, Rory. No worries. I'm gone. Tell the drama queen to go to hell."

And Parker stalked off.
