Luau, The Main Campfire, Friday evening

The main campfire had been turned into a tropical paradise... without the tropics. There were leis and grass skirts to wear, tropical music playing, a buffet table, and the infamous Limbo Stick of Destiny, an artifact brought back to America from World War II. Noody knows what happens when a person wins a limbo competition involving the Limbo Stick of Destiny, but several experts on the subject suggest that "absolutely nothing happens except maybe you win a little trophy."

It was party time at the Fandom High Summer Camp.

[OOC: OCD is up. Yes, there is pig, poi, and sometimes the band will switch from generic tropical music to 60's beach movie music, or maybe reggae, or Raffi. They're unpredictable like that.

The luau takes place during a long break in the rain that [livejournal.com profile] fh_weather is reporting. Yes, I'm modding the weather. Admin privilege.]

"Is shiny good?" Blair held out a hand to Kaylee. "The best part of hula is just making it up!"

"Shiny is very good," Kaylee confirmed, taking Blair's hand. Then she proceeded to make hula moves up as she went.

Blair danced along with her, bouncing and making up moves too. It was less hula and more rock, but that was fine. "So where're you from, Kaylee?"

"The future," Kaylee said, still dancing crazy. "500 years or so. Lived on a planet like this one before livin' on a ship. Where you from?"

"Very cool! Like a spaceship?" Blair danced in a circle around Kaylee. "I'm from here. Not Fandom, but Earth in this time period."

"Yeah, her name's Serenity," Kaylee said fondly of the ship she called home before coming to Fandom.

Blair smiled. "That's a great name for a ship. Very peaceful. So were you like explorers or something?"

"You could say that," Kaylee said, which was sort of the truth. She didn't mention how they made a living. "We just sorta traveled."

She started twirling in circles. "Are you new or have you been here awhile?"

"That's cool too. Going with the flow and all." Blair bounced and moved a step so he didn't interfere with her twirling.

"I've been here since the start of last semester, so not new. I'm a sophman, which is inbetween a freshman and a sophmore. I'm not really sure how they switch it over in the summer. What grade are you?"

"I'll be a junior," Kaylee answered. "So guess that makes me a sophior right now."

"See, you got the hang of it!" Blair panted as he finished a wild spin. "Whew, I'm pooped. Would you like me to get you something to drink?"

"Sure. That's real nice of ya to offer," Kaylee said appreciatively.

Blair bounced off towards the drinks table and brought back a glass for both of them. "It was really nice meeting you, Kaylee! Maybe we can catch another dance later!"

"Thank you," Kaylee said, smiling. "And sure, that'd be shiny."
