Elliot waited for the class to assemble and then began her lesson. A variety of handouts described the conditions she named.

"Hey. You guys did great in a tough situation last week. I was really impressed by the emergency management skills you showed."

"This week, we're getting into the nitty-gritty of emergencies affecting the respiratory system, which is how you breathe. You need to breathe so your body can convert oxygen in the air into the oxygen that fuels your body. The most common emergencies involving breathing are choking and near-drowning, but people may also stop breathing because of allergies or asthma. And then there's hyperventilation, which is usually psychosomatic. Not fun, but psychosomatic. About all you can do to stop that is try to take deep breaths."

"Today, I'm going to have you practice the Heimlich Maneuver and rescue breathing. Heimlich hurts like a bitch if you do it right -- seriously, you need to squeeze so hard you think you might break the person's ribs. So practice it on the danger-shop generated people in that room. If you know how to do it on an adult, try it on one of the babies or pregnant women."

"After that, pair up and go practice rescue breathing. You can make your own pairs for that. And, guys, there's nothing gay about it, even if you are afraid of boykissy."

"Oh, and one more thing? Last week, I didn't really do introductions, but I probably should. Tell us your name, age, any experience you have with first aid, and if there's anything weird about your physiology that I might want to know for this workshop. If you aren't comfortable saying it out loud, come see me after the session."

"And finally, the rules; one absence is totally fine. Two unexcused absences, and you get detention. So show up."

"That's it, guys. Go for it."

We have 15 people in this class -- if anyone is hanging on the rescue breathing as of tomorrow morning, they'll get to work with either Elliot or one of the multipliers. Also? If your character has a truly major problem with the rescue breathing exercise, please let me know in the OOC thread.]

"Of course, now we have to tell Peter we want to make over Mojo," he said, frowning. "Can't imagine he'd mind having it not cry anymore."

"Nope, I'm sure he'll be delighted if we made Mojo happy. Come on," she said. "Cheer up. I'm sure we'll be able to do it."

"Who's sad?" Greg asked with a grin. "I'm just being thinky."

"Oh good," she said, matching his grin. "I was afraid the emo was contagious."

"It probably is," he told her, " but I've built up an immunity. Taken years and years of honing skill."

"That' a very good skill to have around here," Isabel replied. "Sometimes the emo runs thick and deep."

"See, I've noticed that," Greg said. "Though I haven't actually encountered much of it. But when I do, I'll be ready."

"It's been relatively emo free lately," she admitted. "Surprisingly. But wait. It sneaks up and tries to tackle you when you least expect it."

"Let it try," he said confidently. "I'm hereby declaring Greg Sanders an emo-free zone."

"I like that idea. In fact, I think I'll be spending a lot of time in that emo free zone," Isabel said and then facepalmed. "Not dirty!"

Greg raised a brow, turning a bit red. "Not dirty," he agreed. "But I'm glad we'll both be free of emo."

Isabel studied the floor, wondering about the likelihood of it opening up and swallowing her. She wouldn't complain if it did. "Yup, emo free is good."

"I mean, if you were emo, then I'd be emo, and it's a catch-22," he sight melodramatically.

"I did emo in March. It was exhausting," she said. "I'm going to try hard to avoid another round."

"I'm sorry to hear that," Greg said quietly. "And here's hoping that you're successful in that attempt."

"I'm trying. And I've been reasonably successful so far." She smiled, "And I've got even more reason now."

And that made him smile like a dork again.

"Well. Understandably so. I mean, camp is exciting and emo-free," he said, blushing.

Isabel was happy to see him smile. "Yup. It's hard to be emo when you're at camp and there are s'mores around," she said with a wink.

[OMG! I hate my connection!]

"And fun workshops," he said, nodding.

[ZOMG *kicks your connection*]

"And workshops," she agreed. "And speaking of workshops, I'd better get going so I can grab some lunch and get to archery. I wouldn't want to give the Ninja a reason to shoot me." Isabel might have reached out to five his hand a quick squeeze.

"I wouldn't want that either," Greg said with a grin.

He might have squeezed her hand back.

"I'll see you tomorrow then," Isabel smiled as she left.
