Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day
Good weather had fallen over Fandom this morning, so the picnic conditions were looking fantastic. The bonfire was there for good measure, along with the makings of s'mores, because it was almost truly summer, right?
There was plenty of food, and there were tables and chairs set up all across the lawn with varying degrees of glitter stuck to them. Everything was ready for another welcome picnic!
[OCD-free! Welcome the new folks gently! Or not!]

And hey! She wasn't even hung over for this one! So that was nice.

Which, to be fair, was longer ago than it had any right to be.

"It does make it easier to keep names straight, at least?"

Remember how they got to hot dog water seltzer Jell-O shots? Remember?

"Lana," she said, "heyyyyyy. How's it going?"
no subject
Yes, she had a (perfectly innocuous!) purpose, but that didn't mean she couldn't just chat.
no subject
Totally normal chit-chat, that was the Summer Smith guarantee.

"This," she said, after selecting clearly one of the cutest but also most helpful images, "is a ferret."
She gave Lana a chance to give it a closer look before turning her phone back to pull up another picture.
"And This," she showed her the next one, "is my GoTron ferret."

What did that even mean, Summer??
"Either way," she continued, "my grampa's super into them and just, like, collected them? But he got in touch with another collector version of him in another dimension that wanted to team up, because there's actually five of those robot ferrets, and when you get them together, they connect to form a bigger robot, and this other Rick wanted to make even bigger robots by connecting the connected robots, and it's a whole thing now."

Especially when magnets existed.
"If it involves my family," she noted wryly, "things always do get out of hand."
There were reasons she almost never went home anymore, Lana! Except to fight giant space monsters with large robot ferrets!

The hi had almost escaped that time. So close.
"Yesterday was fun."

Okay, yeah, now she was just doing it intentionally.

"I'm glad you didn't doubt my ability to handle a massive ferret."
He would have been sad if she had doubted. He had enough doubts of his own.
"Thank you. Again."

Aaaaand also probably 1000% more vindicated in her decision about breaking up.
She waved her hand dismissively at the gratitude. "Don't even mention it. I'm just glad you finally got to see the GoTrons. And you could see first hand why I ended up getting so into all that stuff in the first place."
Man, it was going to SUCK when C-137 went and fucked it all up for everyone....

"I knew it had to be fun if you enjoyed it so much. I'd run off to do that whenever i could if I had one, too. But I don't think anyone has anything like that at home."
At least not that he'd ever heard about.
