Arden was in a perfectly lovely mood as she swept into the library that day. She hummed while checked people out, sang softly as she tidied up the circulation desk, and even danced a little while she shelved books from the returns.

Listen, some weeks were just really really (reallyreallyreally) good, okay?

"Well, you look happy," Gray observed from the doorway, where he stood with a couple of takeout containers. "I guess you don't need these waffles then." He turned to go. With the waffles. Like a monster.

"Nooooo!" Arden said. "Those are clearly waffles for sharing!"

Gray half-turned back toward her. "Aaaaaaaare they?" They were. Raiden had given him a stern, 'Half of these waffles are for Arden,' lecture before he sent him off with them. "Are you sure?"

"They're absolutely for sharing," Arden said staunchly. "I can tell. It's a sylph thing."

Did she actually know they were for sharing? No. But she wasn't letting that stop her.

"Huh, that would probably explain this bag of ~~moddable~~ toppings Raiden sent with me since he didn't know what you'd want on your waffles," Gray said, sounding for all the world like this was news to him.

Gray's waffles had maple syrup, chocolate chips, and whipped cream. Gray was, as one of his brothers who would not be named had once said, proof positive Nephilim could not get diabetes.

"Ooooh, strawberries and whipped cream," Arden said, making greedy, grabby hands at the container. From the amount she was going to ladle on, it was clear the waffles were mostly the vehicle for said toppings. "Brunch of champions. Thank you, Raiden!"

"'Thank you, Raiden'?" Gray said in mock outrage. "What about 'Thank you, Gray, for carrying these waffles all this way and not even falling asleep once?' And are you sure you don't want more whipped cream?" He wasn't being sarcastic. More whipped cream was always good.

"You know, maybe a little more," Arden said, because there were some things she was willing to be peer pressured into. "And also thank you, Gray, for bringing all these here, without falling asleep or stealing them. I know that was a major temptation and you're the best."

"I am the best," Gray agreed. "What's got you in such a good mood?" It couldn't be the waffles. Unless Raiden had texted her to tell her they were coming so Gray was accountable if they disappeared. He figured that was just possible, although Ray wasn't usually that forward-thinking.

"What, a girl can't just be happy?" she asked, like Arden dancing around while doing chores like a Disney princess was a normal thing. "I'll tell you that if you tell me what you're gonna do after graduation."

That topic did bring manage to bring down her mood significantly.

Gray sighed dramatically. He was really good at dramatic sighs. It was the Sloth. "Why does everybody want to know that? They're supposed to let us stick around for the summer, so I've got months to figure it out. And," he narrowed his eyes and pointed his fork at her. "You're too happy. It's suspicious." He gasped, delighted and hopeful. "Did you finally get laid?"

Gray.

"Gray!" Arden gasped, blushing. But also laughing, so there went any hope to pretend she was appalled. "...No. Although, hmm. How do you seduce someone."

Arden. You're asking Gray, who thought Navaan was helpful. Why?

"I dunno," Gray said with a shrug. "I just look all cute and twinky and the tops flock to me...in my world, at least. Guys here are weird and uncooperative. And not horny enough." Yeah, that was it, Gray. Blame the guys. It was definitely not your total lack of pickup skills. "You should talk to...hm." Gray considered which of his brothers might have actually had to seduce someone at some point. "Well, definitely not Bellamy."

"Who also just stands there and has people flock to him," Arden sighed.

"Yeah, it's really unfair," Gray, who had just said the same thing about himself, agreed. Look, Bellamy was on another level. "Have you tried sexy underwear? That's what it's for, right?" It certainly wasn't for comfort.

"...Not exactly," Arden hedged, because that would mean admitting that he hadn't seen any of her underwear at all. "Like cute underwear sets? Yes. But I don't exactly have any lingerie."

Arden, do you know who you should be talking about this to? Cal.

"That's easy to fix," Gray said, waving that off with a dangerous gesture with a forkful of waffles that somehow did not end in a sticky mess in the library. "There's that place in town. Dite's or whatever." Did he totally mispronounce that because he had no idea it was short for Aphrodite? You betcha.

No, no, then it wouldn't be a surprise. Duh, Arden.

And then what? Just randomly strip in front of him?!?!?

"Does that really work?" she asks. "Just like, being in lingerie?"

Well, if he didn't get the message then, he really was hopeless, so...

Gray shrugged. "I dunno. I've never tried it. Not that I wouldn't look great in lingerie!" Gray.

"I mean, that's a low bar," Arden pointed out. "You manage to make Converse shoes and anime t-shirts look good."

Look, he was gay and also her brother, but that didn't change facts.

I didn't forget what order the OCD goes in, you did.

Now that I've gone meta, I can't go back.

How is it only Wednesday?
