There were turkeys in the Library today. Multiple turkeys. Singing turkeys. Singing turkeys with choreography.

Arden watched the madness in front of her with something akin to horrified fascination. She wasn't even nauseated by the mention of eating turkeys the way she'd normally be - too busy trying to figure out if she was having some kind of episode.

"Eat me!" a turkey warbled at her.

"...You know, I almost wish the gremlins were here instead," she muttered, putting a book in front of her face and trying not to look up again.

Except, sadly for Arden, this wasn't a performance. No, that was for tomorrow. This was their rehearsal.

Before the afternoon was over, she would come to dread the words, 'Let's take it from the top!'

"I'm pretty good through the first act," Kamala said with a note of pride. "But I lose touch after the invasion of New York. Lots of melodrama."

She reached out to touch Arden on her arm. "By the way? I haven't gotten a chance to thank you for looking after me when I was slothified. As usual I was very well taken care of. Hopefully that won't happen again any time soon."

Arden laughed and pulled Kamala in for a hug. "You're welcome," she said. "I'm not gonna leave my best friend all by her self as a sloth! Or dump you all on Ellie, either!"

Offenses against bestie code, both!

"I think next time it does happen, I'm gonna ask Midnight for some shelves so you can be up high."

Aw! Bestie Huggies!

"That would be awesome," Kamala said and gave Arden a little smirk. "And maybe ask Midnight for a little escape hatch in case you and your boyfriend need some-"

Insert fake cough here

"-alone time?"

"Oh my goddess," Arden groaned. "We were just talking!"

With, you know. Bonus kissing. And some light chest caressing.

"...He is my boyfriend though, now," she said with a small flush.

"Well, I wouldn't know anything after a certain point as BD gave me a piggyback ride out of the room," Kamala teased. "But... yay official boyfriend! I feel like a proud mom for some reason."

"Because you've been trying to make this happen since ten minutes after you stepped onto this island?" Arden suggested. "Which, by the way, I'm pretty sure you get, like, all the 'I told you so' bragging that you want."

"Oh, I'm way too classy for that," Kamala said, turning up her nose as if that made her classy. "Anyway-"

In a non-classy way she hoisted herself up to sit on the desk. "I'm heading out in a few hours before I catch a portal for Jersey City. Probably be back on Sunday. Bruno seems to have gotten over himself and is coming back for the holiday and invited me over for our traditional Thanksgiving feast at his grandmothers. I think we're finally back on good terms now."

"I'm glad," she said, squeezing Kamala's hands. "Took him long enough to get his head out of his ass. I'm not sure when I'm heading to California with Gray. So your family doesn't do a big Thanksgiving?"

Kamala shrugged. "Not really? My parents usually focused on the Muslim holidays. Plus not all turkey is halal and... well, we just enjoyed the long weekend and I hung out at Bruno's where we'd have lasagna. We liked watching the Macy's day parade but that's about as far as we got into the holiday."
