Principles of First Aid, Danger Shop, Morning, 5/23

Elliot is seated cross-legged on a table in the front of the Danger Shop, wearing a lab coat and looking only a little nervous. When most of the students have assembled, she begins.

"Hi, I'm Elliot Reid. You can call me Dr. Reid, or Elliot, or... just don't use the E.T. voice, or I will have to beat you senseless. And yes, it's a boy's name, I'm not a boy."

"We have a lot to cover if you guys want to be qualified for Red Cross certification at the end of the term. I'm handing out the syllabus, which I stole from Red Cross of Singapore. Because we only have so much time, I'm going to kind of skim a lot of this. I also have made up first aid kits for each of you; take them, use them, love them. If they get you in trouble, don't blame me."


"The basic idea of First Aid is to, you know, keep people from dying or becoming horribly disfigured on the spot. Now, if you don't know what you're doing, you end up hurting way more than you help. So first rule is, don't do anything until you have assessed the situation and called 911 if necessary. Even if you happen to be a doctor, you call 911. Got it?"

She glanced down at the syllabus.

"So anatomy is one of those things I'm going to skim. You have bodies. They have all kinds of funky things about them. If you want to know more, there's a good Web site for you to play with loaded on those computers over there."

"And now to the fun stuff." A little gleefully, she illuminated another section of the danger shop. Three small rooms came into view, each containing a Danger Shop-generated scene of chaos. "You guys have been divided into completely arbitrary teams. Each team should go to a scene, talk out what you're going to do if you want, and then each of you should demonstrate how you would react. I know it's early and it's summer, so don't wait for everybody if there are people missing from your group."

"And when you're done with that, come back and we will play with triangular bandages. They're useful, they're compact, and they make a really decent bikini if you're desperate."

[OOC: OCD is up. Play. The scenarios are like life-size dioramas; you can interact with them, but the people are just computer-generated models. Mod them as necessary.]

Make them into a sling, demonstrate wound technique, wear them like hats .... the possibilities are endless.

On himself. Or a duplicate rather.

"You're doing it wrong."

"No, I'm not."

"Yes. Yes, you are."

"How do you know?"

"Because I don't know how to do it, so therefore you must be messing it up."

Elliot blinked. "Um, you need to fold it a little more and -- I'm sorry, but is this some weird dream or are there actually two of you?"

"Weird dream," one of them said

"There are two of us," said the other.

"You're not being nice."

"You're no fun."

Jamie sighs and absorbs his duplicate. "Yeah. It's a thing I can do. Make duplicates of myself.

"Whoa," Elliot said. She was a little disappointed he had reabsorbed the other copy; she would have liked to do some experiments. "Can you just do that whenever you want? Doesn't it hurt?"

"Pretty much whenever I want," Jamie said with a shrug. "I can take the kinetic energy absorbed in punch or kick or whatever and use it to create a duplicate."

Cordelia grabbed a couple of triangular bandages and started working out how she would fashion them into a bikini.

"The trick is to twist the one for the top on the bias," Elliot said helpfully. "Makes it fit better."

Isabel discretely slipped some of the extra bandages in her bag because you never know what could be useful when you're in a prank war and then attempted to wrap a triangular bandage around her knee.

"Sure. If you want," she smiled. "And hi Greg! Multiple times back. Although after this morning, I don't know."

Greg attempted to look very innocent as he crouched beside her. "No idea what you mean. And I only said hi on the radio...oh, four or five times."

"It's funny how you had ducks with you last night, and then there were ducks in our cabin this morning isn't it?" Isabel asked casually. "One would think they'd been collected for a purpose." She didn't add that she knew he'd said 'hi' exactly three times because she'd relistened to the broadcast and counted.

Peter's mun just remembered about the bandages made a sling. He'd fashioned a few of these out of webbing in the past. It was always nice to have a real sling, though.

Well, aside from the fact that it meant you had an arm injury. That part wasn't nice.

Parker has no idea what to do with these. She finally ends up braiding them together to make a tail for a kite. Or possibly, a flag. Hard to be sure.

"Cotton, I think," Elliot said. She blinked a little at the moving tattoos on the boy's hands but said nothing.

"Hm" Briar frowned at the bandage and concentrated for a minute. The edges of the bandage tightly wove themselves into each other. "There we go. Definetly cotton." He smirked.
