Welcome Party for the Summer Students and Staff

Despite the slightly overcast sky, the weather is still good for welcoming all of the new arrivals for the Fandom High summer session. The graduation decorations (and gremlin debris) have been cleared from the front lawn, and replaced with tables of information packets, food, and drinks. A series of signs point the students to the information table first, where they can pick up their room assignments from the office drones, and then continue on to the food tables to mingle.

And no, there are no inflatable gremlins around today. It's far too early to start scaring the new folks. ~~That's what the mingling section is for!~~

She almost jumps a little, because she hadn't expected to see Malfoy of all people. Her eyes narrow a little and she asks, "What are you doing here?"

Draco shakes his head dramatically. "So hostile. That's not very attractive." he says "But since you asked, I've been here since September. Does that surprise you?"

"Yes, of course it does," she says, "because I just saw you in June."

"Yeah, there's neat little time loop things here. I'm sure a nerd like you would be fascinated by the mechanics of it." he says. "Who knew muggles could do such things?"

"So Granger, how old are you?" Draco silently hoped that maybe she hadn't experienced sixth year. Last thing he needed was someone on his back about how he tried to kill the headmaster. "Dear Cedric is back, did you see? I decided not to tell him anything. Wouldn't want to ruin the surprise."

"That's horrible," she tells him sternly. "It isn't a laughing matter. It just happened. For me, anyway."

Draco breathed a sigh of relief. "Please Granger, stop being such a...Gryffindor. He's alive, isn't he?"

"Well, well, well. Seems I'm older than you are now. Means I'm wiser. More mature." he says, looking smug.

She sighs. "Somehow I doubt that," she says. "You said there are time loops... When are you from?"

"I'll be seventeen in June." he says matter of fact-ly. "And I have matured. I'm at a muggle school and despite what you may think, I have made some of them my friends. I even dated a witch who had muggle parents. Seems that all mudbloods aren't bossy know-it-alls. Color me surprised."

"I'm glad to see your language has matured as well," Hermione says, glaring.

"Uptight as ever, I see. Can't expect everything to change." he says, grinning. He gets up from his chair and puts his hands in his pockets. "A stimulating conversation as always, Granger. I know we have so much catching up to do but lucky for you I'll be around all summer."

He nods at her once and heads off towards the food table.

Hermione manages to keep her head off the table. However, the eyes are rolling.
