Welcome Party for the Summer Students and Staff

Despite the slightly overcast sky, the weather is still good for welcoming all of the new arrivals for the Fandom High summer session. The graduation decorations (and gremlin debris) have been cleared from the front lawn, and replaced with tables of information packets, food, and drinks. A series of signs point the students to the information table first, where they can pick up their room assignments from the office drones, and then continue on to the food tables to mingle.

And no, there are no inflatable gremlins around today. It's far too early to start scaring the new folks. That's what the mingling section is for!

Demyx's annoyance was rather quickly derailed, and he looked from Pip to Pippi and back again. "Pip and Pippi? Are you twins? Were your parents psychotic??"

"Yes." Said the 5'2" Redhead standing next to the freakishly tall blond guy with a French accent.

"Because we look so much alike."

She grinned and kept her hand out.

"How am I supposed to know? I'm just asking!" Demyx looked at her hand, then blinked up at her face. "...Do you want something?"

Pippi laughed.

"To shake your hand in greeting." she said, "Or for you to kiss it or slap it away or put something in it... Whatever."

"...Right." Demyx put his hand out too, mimicking Pippi. "Hello." This place was so weird. Though Pippi was kinda reminding him of Sora... "Why am I at school? I'm supposed to be dead."

Pip raised an eyebrow. "I have no idea. Maybe the powers that be thought you'd be better off coming here? Maybe... I dunno, you're getting a second chance? Might be something best not worth questioning."

Pippi takes his hand and shakes it (gently).

"Pleased to meet you. I'm glad you're not dead."

"But what about everybody else? Where's Axel?" Demyx jumped when Pippi shook his hand, pulling it back as soon as she let go. "...Wait. Do I actually have to, you know...go to classes?" His eyes went wide. "I'm a musician. And...and...I already did school when I wasn't a Nobody."

"In order," Pip said. "I don't know. Who's Axel? I'm not sure, maybe you could take it up with administration. I'm a musician too, actually. I play guitar. And what do you mean? Everyone's somebody."

"Axel's a friend of mine in the Organization. He's number Eight, I'm number Nine." Demyx frowned slightly. "You don't know what a Nobody is? Nobodies are created when somebody with a strong will is turned into a Heartless. It's the body and soul left behind." He grinned, shrugging. "So really, not everybody is Somebody."

Pippi took this all in.

She reached out her hand, slowly, gently, poking him in the shoulder.

"You feel pretty much like somebody to me." she said ignoring the obvious question.

"If you have a soul, you're doing pretty good. Unless you mean you're physically without a heart? The people at the clinic are going to have a breakdown if you ever get hurt or sick."

"Oh, we do too have hearts." Demyx held his hands up in a symbol of peace. "Don't be mad."

"We're not mad," Pip said. "Just trying to understand. So... are you missing someting, then, if not your heart?"

"I'm just as real as anybody else. I'm just a Nobody, not a Somebody. So I'm kinda half a person. Or something. I mean, Roxas was able to find his other half, so maybe someday I'll find mine." He had a habit of talking too much. "I guess I'm stuck here for now, though, so I better just make the most of it. Do they have any kind of music stuff here, or is it all like...writing papers?"

Pip nodded. "Don't worry, mon ami. I"m going to introduce you to Professor Ted, the music guy. And you and me? We'll have to jam sometime."

"My name's not Amy, it's Demyx." His eyes lit up at the mention of a jam session, though. "You mean you actually want to play music with me?? Nobody else ever would! None of the other members was really musically inclined, so I've always just played alone, but it'd be really cool to play with someone else! But I'd have to be really careful to keep my powers in check." The blonde grinned, shaking his hair out of his eyes again. "I can summon water, and a lot of the time I kinda get carried away when I'm playing."

Pip laughed. "Sorry, sorry. 'Mon ami' is French for 'my friend'. And yes, I'm totally serious about the jam session. Jam sessions rock." He laughed and lit a cigarette. "So, you control water?"

"French? What's French?" Demyx grinned, nodding. "Yeah. I control water, Axel's totally fire, Xaldin's air-element. You know, that sort of thing." He watched Pip smoke, tilting his head to the side slightly. "Those thing's'll kill ya, you know."

Looking at Pippi, Demyx gave her a curious look. "Are you going to jam too?"

"It's another language here," Pip said. "French, I mean. And yeah, I know these things will kill me, but there's a bunch of things out there that will probably get me first." He grinned. "So, who's Xaldin?"

"I play the drums! I can totally jam!" Pippi said. "Xaldin's a pretty name."

"Oooh...drums are good! Need somebody to keep the beat." After a moment of thought, Demyx shrugged. "Well, there's the Superior, that's Xemnas; he's number One. Then Xigbar, number Two. Xaldin is number Three, Vexen is number Four, Lexaeus is number Five, Zexion is number Six, Saix is number Seven, Axel is number Eight, I'm number Nine, Luxord is number Ten, Marluxia is number Eleven, Larxene is number Twelve, and Roxas is number Thirteen." Granted, it was probably more information than they needed, but Demyx was good at that.

"Well, that is kinda why it's called 'Organization XIII'," Demyx pointed out. "It's the usual thing, you know? Xemnas wants to take over the worlds using Kingdom Hearts and all that stuff. Me, I don't care really. I TOLD them not to send me, but they did anyway. I just wanna play music."
