Welcome Party for the Summer Students and Staff

Despite the slightly overcast sky, the weather is still good for welcoming all of the new arrivals for the Fandom High summer session. The graduation decorations (and gremlin debris) have been cleared from the front lawn, and replaced with tables of information packets, food, and drinks. A series of signs point the students to the information table first, where they can pick up their room assignments from the office drones, and then continue on to the food tables to mingle.

And no, there are no inflatable gremlins around today. It's far too early to start scaring the new folks. That's what the mingling section is for!

Lana noticed someone standing on his own and went over to greet him. "Hi, you must be one of the new students. Welcome to Fandom High. My name is Lana."

Briar smiled at the girl. "Pleasure to meet you. I'm Briar Moss." He offered a tattooed hand to shake.

Lana went to shake his hand then drew back for a second as she realized the tattoos on his hands were moving.

It only took a moment for her to collect herself though and she shook his hand with a rueful smile. "Sorry about that. The... movement startled me. I've never seen anything like that before. Nice to meet you, Briar."

"So, what brings you to Fandom," Lana asked. "It's a rather... unique place."

"According to one of my mentors, it was a 'unique opportunity'. He didn't specify what it was a unique opportunity to do, though." His smile never even twitched. "And what about you?"

"I just finished my first year here. I came to get away from my home town - all the expectations people had of me." Lana made a face. "I got tired of only being the pretty princess whose parents died when she was three."

"A Princess? I'm sorry, I didn't realize." Briar bowed politely.

"What? Oh! Oh, no, I'm sorry," Lana blushed. "Not a real princess. I was dressed up as a fairy princess that day. I'm just an ordinary person like everyone else."

"Um... little magical imaginary - or okay, maybe not so imaginary around here - beings. Who can grant wishes?" Lana wasn't quite sure what to say.
