Welcome Party for the Summer Students and Staff

Despite the slightly overcast sky, the weather is still good for welcoming all of the new arrivals for the Fandom High summer session. The graduation decorations (and gremlin debris) have been cleared from the front lawn, and replaced with tables of information packets, food, and drinks. A series of signs point the students to the information table first, where they can pick up their room assignments from the office drones, and then continue on to the food tables to mingle.

And no, there are no inflatable gremlins around today. It's far too early to start scaring the new folks. That's what the mingling section is for!

"Well I'm strikingly good looking and mature for my age for one thing," Jamie joked. "It totally makes up for a lack of personality.

"I think it's overrated myself," Jamie agreed. "Not that I'm stuck on myself mind you, it's just that... yeah, okay I'm stuck on myself. But enough about me! Tell me something about yourself other than your name is Marie and you're from Mississippi."

"At least you're honest," Marie said with a grin. "And let's see, something else about me. Hmm. I've been taking piano lessons since I was five."

"Let's see," Marie said. "I have a huge family that couldn't believe I wasn't afraid to leave Mississippi on my own, I've never been to a big city before today, and I hope to some day travel north through Canada to Alaska."

She grinned. "Have I managed to completely bore you yet?"

"Completely," Jamie said returning the smile. "The only reason I haven't drifted off to sleep yet is because of all the bad coffee I drank on the way down here."

"No, can't say that I have," Marie said apologetically. "I ran into my roommate right after I picked up my packet. We're in 509. Where are you?"
