Welcome Party for the Summer Students and Staff

Despite the slightly overcast sky, the weather is still good for welcoming all of the new arrivals for the Fandom High summer session. The graduation decorations (and gremlin debris) have been cleared from the front lawn, and replaced with tables of information packets, food, and drinks. A series of signs point the students to the information table first, where they can pick up their room assignments from the office drones, and then continue on to the food tables to mingle.

And no, there are no inflatable gremlins around today. It's far too early to start scaring the new folks. That's what the mingling section is for!

[OOC: All right folks, have at it!]

Mac smirked, wow that was a lot of food for one guy.

"Would this be a good time to mention the content of the food around here?" Oh yes, she remembered the first comment she'd heard about the food here.

"Seems fine to me," Greg noted, smiling up at her. "I'm Greg, hi."

Mac chuckled, "well, my first day here someone announced to me that they put people in it. I feel like I really should pass on the tradition, or try at least"

"I'm Mac and I'm guessing you're new here, so welcome to Fandom."

"They don't, right?" he asked, glancing down at his plate. "And hi, Mac. Like as in Macintosh?"

"As far as I can tell... no." She shrugged, "but I'm vegan, so I don't eat the food they serve around here anyway."

"Actually the Mac is short for my surname, MacKenzie, but it fits either way. I do love techno-stuffs."

"Oh, my sister's vegan," he said, nodding. "Big commitment to your eating habits, there." He grinned. "Another techie, awesome. Though I'm a Linux man."

"Gotta admit, I regret the decision sometimes, like everytime I get a craving for chocolate that doesn't taste of chalk."

She grinned at him. "Well it's good to know I'm not the only one who loves the geeky things in life. I have an ongoing debate on Linux going with a friend at home. I've yet to be converted yet."

"See, Macs are nice, but Linux is best for the kind of software I work with the most," he said, shrugging. "If I did video editing or something, I'd so be a Mac boy."

She nodded, "I'm a graphics-phile so it's ideal for me. What kinda thing is it you do that requires a boring OS like Linux then." Mac grinned, she couldn't help but put the jab in, it wasn't in her nature to pass up an excuse to dis it.
