Plants: Thursday Period One

Nell waited for the class at Portalocity today where she'd handwavily told them to meet. "Good morning, everyone," she said when they'd all arrived. "Today we're heading to one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in the world.

"Kew Gardens in England is a UNESCO World Heritage site with over 50,000 living plants." Pretty much a dream for Nell. "We'll be visiting Temperate House, which is the world's largest greenhouse. It's home to 1,200 species of plants from all over the world. There are over 3,000 plants including some from remote places such as St. Helens and Pitcairn Island.

"You can check out the loneliest plant in the world and a plant grown from a 203 year old seed. After that we'll check out Kew's Kitchen Garden before heading over to try some of those vegetables and fruits at the Botanical Brasserie."

She smiled at them. "It's a lot to see, so let's get going."

Eleanor was feeling very glad that this week's class involved a field trip rather than an intense or detailed lecture, because she didn't think she'd be able to pay attention to it as much as she would have liked this morning. But wandering around and enjoying beautiful plants while maybe picking up a useful or interesting tidbit here and there when something caught her enough to break through the little happy fog of last night? That sounded just about perfect, really, and she even took a few pictures with her phone, as well, maybe to share with Lydia since she'd invited her to the gardens in Vegas.

Gladio had to admit, he was definitely much more interested in the food than the gardens; his taste in plantlife leaned much more toward the wilderness than the cultivated, but he was always pretty happy with nearly any kind of food. He had a pretty healthy respect for sustainability, too, considering how much of a miracle it became to even have fresh green vegetables in the leaner years of the Long Night.

"You know," Gladio realized, tilting his head slightly over a sandwich made even more quaintly tiny in his massive hand, "I think it might actually be mine, too? I mean, sure, plenty of teas before in my life, but never an English one, if we're making the distinction."

He took a bite which consumed about half the sandwich, grinned at Nell, and then looked over the offering. "A good light snack."

"Yeah," Gladio agreed, "there's no way Iggy's class will disappoint on that front. And I know a good part of sustainability and the whole eating-what-you-grow thing is not to go too overboard. Can't beat the location or the company, either."

Don't mind Eleanor just sitting there, enjoying her sandwiches and tea and looking literally anywhere else during this teatime. At least there waYs plenty to look at, though!

"I know a lot of things," said Gladio, "that would have been better with the right sort of company."

Which, sure, he had Prompto and Ignis, always, and he'd had Iris and Aranea and Cindy and Cor back home, but he definitely meant Nell, too. Obviously.

He then looked around a little and jerked his chin toward the gardens. "You get any new exciting ideas from this place?"

Once they were pretty much wrapping up here at the gardens and about to head back, Gladio just had one question remaining, and he was pretty sure Nell could guess pretty easily what it was.

"Walk you to your next class?"

"You know," Gladio said, squeezing her hand a little as he gave her a proud sort of nod, both for himself in being damn good at giving Nell massages and for her clearly agreeing with that, "I'm half-tempted to try and crash in this week for a massage of my own, but maybe I can just wait until you're done and you can show me what you learned before we head off for Iggy's class."

Of course there was a wink there.

And, honestly, he was tempted, but he also liked for Nell to have that particular class for herself, because that was what it was all about, right?

Besides, he felt there was a good chance that Lils and Igs were probably absolutely insufferable during a good chunk of it, too.

Gladio wouldn't have needed all that much convincing, but he was happily going to take it, grinning into that kiss and taking his time with enjoying it. After all, if you were going to be late for a class about treating yourself, then could the teacher really complain if this was going to be the reason?

"Can't argue with that," he said, still grinning as he pulled back back. "I can definitely wait. Maybe I'll just hit the gym in the meantime, to give you something to really work with. And I'd be a great subject for demonstration massages; think of how easy it is to see what muscles you're working with, right?"
