He's certainly spent a lot of time in his office this week, Daniel reflects. He's marking Molly's archaeology report. Maybe he'll get the other reports in early enough to mark them today?

Although that would require him to be productive. Possibly not.

His door is open.

"Hi, Daniel," Elizabeth breezed in.

Well. As much as one can breeze when one is in strappy sandals.

Daniel looked up and was very proud of himself for not groaning.

But then did a double take at what she was wearing.

"What?" Elizabeth glanced down at the sundress which ended a couple of inches above her knee. "I'm currently lacking in clothing. And it was either this or pyjamas."

"Pyjamas would show less leg," Daniel pointed out, before blushing. "Not that I'm looking."

Elizabeth rolled her eyes at him, taking a seat and crossing her legs at the ankle. "They're legs, Daniel. Pretty much everyone has them. And while I admit that the skirt is perhaps shorter than I would prefer, I'm not exactly indecent."

Daniel coughed slightly, and looked down at Molly's report. "Well, yes," he agreed. He looked up again. "Was there something you wanted to talk to me about especially?"

"Eh," Elizabeth shrugged. "My finals were finished on Tuesday, so I'm just wandering around. And I thought I'd drop in and say hi on my way to the library."

"Oh," Daniel managed. "That's, um, nice of you. Considering the last time I saw you, you were six."

Well, the last time he'd saw her had been the morning after when she and Janet were both sixteen again and curled up on the couch together in a distinctly non-six-year old like way. But he wasn't going to mention that.

"Mmm... yeah," Elizabeth nodded. "I'm sorry for fingerpainting your walls." She actually did look and sound sorry. Because she really was.

"It was washable, thankfully," Daniel said with relief. "So you're forgiven."

"Yay," Elizabeth grinned. "Oh, I know what I was going to ask you to do." She reached into her bag and handed him a book. "Dr. Jackson, would you please sign my yearbook?"

Daniel took the offered book, slightly bemused. "I taught you for what? A month?"

He opened the book. "Mind if I take a look through?"

"You have, however, been an integral part of my school experience," Elizabeth said with a straight face.

"Yeah, sure, knock yourself out," she said, waving a hand dismissively. "Only, um. Not literally. Please?"

Daniel choked, and tried not to blush as he skimmed through the book. "It looks good," he said.

His eyes widened at the class pages (http://notcalledlizzie.livejournal.com/22971.html?thread=708795#t708795) and he made his own addition, before deciding that he probably shouldn't write that and scribbled it out again.

"It does, yeah," Elizabeth agreed. "So. I hear you're going to Egypt this summer."

Daniel looked up at the ever so casual tone she'd adopted.

"Um, yes. I am," he said.

"Please can you not die, otherwise injure yourself, get lost in an underground tomb, or be abducted by aliens or, ooh, get kidnapped?"

Daniel just looked at her. "I'm really not intending to do any of that," he said.

She just rolled her eyes. "Please. No one intends to do those things. I'd really not have kidnapped three times under my list of things I've done; although I'm not sure if the third one was an abduction or a kidnapping if we want to get into the details."

Daniel just gaped slightly at her.

She waved her hand slightly dismissively. "Never mind. Anyway. Janet will be in good hands while you're gone..."

"I don't doubt that," Daniel muttered, scribbling something in her yearbook.

Elizabeth's cheeks flushed slightly pink.

"That was... completely not supposed to be dirty," she said. "But as I was trying to say, just because she's not going to be alone - not dirty - does not mean that you can get so involved in what you're doing and not write or call her. Okay?"

Daniel missed the blush as he was signing by Prom.

"Of course I'll write and call," Daniel said, handing the book back. "It was never my intention not too."

"That's good," Elizabeth said, smiling as she slipped the book back in her bag and standing up. She also yanked down the skirt slightly.

"Well, I'm off to the library, so I guess I'll see you around, Dr. Jackson."
