"Since the pits were such a hit last week," Steve began with perhaps an unclear recollection of last week, "we're keeping them and adding additional obstacles this week."

"Land mines," Tony said cheerfully. "Well, paint ones. Expect to get pretty messy if one goes off, though."

Was this cruel and unusual? No, because there weren't any bugs.

Or any niche Chicago booze flavored like bugs and regret. So it could be a lot worse, right, Anakin?

"So just like in a real battle, you have to look out for more than just enemy combatants," Steve said, nodding. "Be on your toes. Not literally."

"Maybe a little literally depending on the area," Tony chimed in.

"It'll be swell," Steve assured them. "Have fun. No power usage."

Arden was learning many things in her outdoor classes, but how to move through greenery and leave it undisturbed was not one of them. Eventually Cal would be able to notice a patch that was moving - as if, say, someone was creeping closer, trying to line up the perfect shot to win the day.

Cal was running low on paintballs, so he had to make this one count. He watched her move and aimed towards the back of the movement, where he was more likely to hit an area covered by the overalls. Someday, he'd have a little more bloodlust in him, but not today.

Arden, unaware of where he'd moved to, leaned forward, eyeballing his high ground, her eyes sharp for movement.

Aaaaand there she was. Cal took a deep breath, feeling only slightly bad as he hit her in the side. "I'll start thinking about dinner," he called. "That was fun!"

Arden looked down at the bright paint spattering over her side and sighed. "At least he didn't get my hair," she muttered, before stepping out and holding up her hands to signal surrender.

"Good game!" she called back. "Let me know what you decide!"
