It was not just you, it was a little buggy in the park this morning. Welcome, everyone, to Anakin Skywalker's Salute to Cicadas themed game today!

You were probably not nearly as thrilled about it as Cal and Arden, who'd helped set up said theme. Ohhhh, it was gonna be great!*

"Welcome!" Anakin called out as people arrived. "Today we will have only two teams led by Cal and Arden." Their shirts might be a clue about what horrors fun awaited you! "There is a fascinating scientific event happening on this continent right now, and while it is not impacting us fully, I believe we should embrace learning about the fascinating cicada, which has any number of useful traits."

He smiled. "For instance, did you know that it's extremely nutritious?"

Anakin, why are you like this.

"We will begin with a relay race and end with a game of skill!" Was Flip Cup really a game of skill? Guess we'll find out! "Listen for your names! You may not use your powers."

"I got a few days off to visit, actually!" Graham, laughing, was happy to report as he hugged Arden back. "Apparently, we've got a great PTO plan, and I figured I'd take a few days to come back. Especially since...."

When he pulled back, he gave her an almost schemingly knowing grin. "Hold on a second," he said, lifting a finger at her for a moment, before he started rooting through his pockets. "Just give me....I know it's here somewhe--Ah-ha!"

He paused a moment, for dramatics, and the let out a little fanfare before he proudly pulled out and held up for her to see a knit sweater.

"Courtesy, of course, of Acorn! He says don't be too harsh about it, though, he's never knitted a full sweater before, it's mostly just been socks and scarves and wetzel traps."

"Awww!" Arden took the sweater and admired it, wishing it wasn't so damn hot so she could pull it on without dying. "Please tell Acorn that I said it's marvelous and I'm going to wear it a bunch once the weather cools down and that I can't wait for my next trip to Daventry so I can come see how his shop is doing." Graham got another tight, squeezy hug, and then Arden was turning to give Triumph the proper greeting he deserved.

"Hello, valiant steed! Don't you look as handsome and knightly as Graham," she cooed, giving Triumph another hug. "How's training been treating the both of you?"

Slightly muffled question, technically for both of them.

Triumph chirped and trumpeter proudly, expressing that he was glad that Arden had noticed, causing Graham to chuckle a little.

"Well," he offered, "Acorn's working from his parents' home right now, to save up money for a shop space, but, the good news is, since I won the tournament, they've eased up on the whole knight thing so he can focus on his craft more! And training has been...." He wanted to say brutal, but felt he could be more specific, "a lot more standing around and paperwork than I expected. I get stuck with moat duty a lot, but I know it's because I've got to pay my dues, you know? How about you, Arden? How've you been? Anything new and exciting I've been missing?"

"Oh! Oh! I got a tattoo!" Arden said, because that was way better than 'I'm currently serving detention' or 'I was bitten by a gremlin and had the most mortifying experience of my life.' She turned around, pulling up the back of her t-shirt to show off the ink on her shoulder. "It was kind of a random thing, but it's been like two weeks and I still love it, so I think it was a good choice."

"Zounds, Arden!" Graham remarked, after leaning in to make sure he really did get a good look at it. "That's beautiful! I love it, too! Did it hurt a lot to get it? Does it have any special magical properties? Do you think you'll get another one? Do you think I should get one? Where did you get it? Did it cost a lot of money?"

Look, he's been gone for a hot minute! He had missed out on asking so many questions!

Somewhere, Liliana was granting Graham grudging respect for that kind of question asking and also was mad about it.

"Thank you!" Arden turned around and beamed at him. "I'm glad you got to see it now, after it healed up and wasn't so scabby anymore." Which happened far faster than it should have, but she sure wasn't going to point that out. "It was a little startling in the beginning and kinda felt like pinching but didn't hurt much really. Uh, can you get magic tattoos? This one is a normal one I got in Baltimore. And, you know what? Probably. I have this idea of a kestrel fighting the East Wind I'm playing with, but it's not coming to me as easily as this one did. And it wasn't really expensive at all. Barely a hundred bucks at this studio called Have Fun Be Lucky. And if you want one! I could, um. Help you figure something out if you want? I like mine and I thought I gave Cal a really good idea, so...if you're ever interested...?"
