Anakin was feeling particularly inspired today, which was why when people arrived for Shenanigans (or made their ill-advised way through the park not realizing it was a Wednesday), they would find a baseball field set up between the playground and the pond. The bleachers had been placed around it so everyone could live out their sudden need to watch a baseball game! The only tiny, tiny problem with this set-up? Anakin had absolutely no idea how baseball worked. Yes, he'd lived on Earth for twenty years. Yes, he'd married a person from Earth. But really, if you looked at Rory and thought "now there's a sports fan," well, that's entirely your mistake.

The field was correct--home plate, pitchers mound, three bases in a diamond--but everything else would get a little haywire. It was Shenanigans, you couldn't expect otherwise, could you?

"Welcome to Shenanigans!" Anakin yelled through the as-always unnecessary bullhorn. "Today we shall be divided into two baseball teams! Instead of shirts, you shall be receiving mascot outfits! I understand that is the real reason to attend a baseball game! Listen for your names, change into your baseball outfits--" sure, Anakin, go with that, "--and then I will explain the rules!"

This would go great.

"Who can I trust to watch her?" Kitty said.

Probably anyone. Whatever. (Not Beaker.)

"Cute kids."

"Thank you," Ben said. "This is Kol--" the baby, "and Nat, over there, collecting rocks. Their big sister's off with their other dad. I'm Ben."

"I'm Kitty, and this is Lexi," she said.

"Hi," Lexi said, before turning back to the much more interesting field, or maybe the rock collecting.

"I think I've seen you around before."

Ben nodded. "I was a student here a while back," he said. "I'm one of Anakin's grandkids."

"There are a lot of you."

He probably knew that.

And it sounded like there were more grandkids than there actually were.

Ben grinned. "There are. We come and go. I'm only here for the summer while my husband teaches philosophy."

"Must be nice to have the escape plan," Kitty said lightly.

She had one! She just didn't take advantage of it.

Ben laughed. "Something like that," he agreed. "Andrew's between projects back home. This is a good place to decompress."

Possibly only Skywalkers think of Fandom as a place to decompress.

Kitty tilted her head. "Decompress? Here?"

"Compared to my home galaxy, it's pretty easy," Ben admitted, "and it lets my children have the chance to run around and use their powers without feeling afraid of being caught."

"Would they get in trouble?" Lexi asked, concerned.

"Our home universe is just as nuts as here," Kitty explained.

"The universe we live in is one without these kinds of powers," Ben said, waving his hand to lift Nat's collection of rocks and spin them over the boy's head. "People tend to panic when confronting things they don't understand."

"Tell me about it," Lexi said with an exaggerated sigh.

"She's heard me talk about that same thing," Kitty explained. The kid wasn't dealing with oppression quite yet!

Ben smiled. "So it's a decompression to let Nat run a little wild for the summer and to see if Kol manifests anything just yet. Val has already learned the value in keeping some portion of yourself hidden from the universe."
