Anakin was feeling particularly inspired today, which was why when people arrived for Shenanigans (or made their ill-advised way through the park not realizing it was a Wednesday), they would find a baseball field set up between the playground and the pond. The bleachers had been placed around it so everyone could live out their sudden need to watch a baseball game! The only tiny, tiny problem with this set-up? Anakin had absolutely no idea how baseball worked. Yes, he'd lived on Earth for twenty years. Yes, he'd married a person from Earth. But really, if you looked at Rory and thought "now there's a sports fan," well, that's entirely your mistake.

The field was correct--home plate, pitchers mound, three bases in a diamond--but everything else would get a little haywire. It was Shenanigans, you couldn't expect otherwise, could you?

"Welcome to Shenanigans!" Anakin yelled through the as-always unnecessary bullhorn. "Today we shall be divided into two baseball teams! Instead of shirts, you shall be receiving mascot outfits! I understand that is the real reason to attend a baseball game! Listen for your names, change into your baseball outfits--" sure, Anakin, go with that, "--and then I will explain the rules!"

This would go great.

Get your mascot outfits! They come in correct sizes, but that doesn't mean the eyeholes line up for where your eyes are.

"Part cabbage and part lighthouse," Steve grumbled, hopping into the pants of the costume. "Why would those two things even go together?"

"Even with my years of experience watching Asian animation, I have no idea," Dean said with a sigh.

It seems like Dean can't escape wearing clothes that don't fit this week.

"It's giving me questions I honestly don't want the answers to," Steve admitted.

"Maybe the lighthouse is the guardian of mutated sea cabbages?" Dean suggested.

"If we get invaded by mutated sea cabbages later this summer, I'm blaming you," Steve said.

"Things don't happen just because you say them out loud," Dean said trying to pull on the outfit. "Besides we have a lighthouse so we'll be fine."

"This is not how baseball works," Steve said, frowning at the giant squirrel head he was supposed to put on.

It felt as though there could be something delightfully chaotic in the anonymity that today's costumes would allow. Stewart wasn't sure how exactly that might manifest, but he was as eager to find out as he was to disappear into being but one of several Nuts-kuns.

Brought him back fondly to his F.A.K.U. days. Gae would approve, and so his....performance today would be dutifully dedicated to her.

Rey usually took the shirts in stride. She didn't even mind a lot of them.

This however had her looking like he'd lost his damn mind.

"I cannot stress enough that we must defeat Steve Rogers," Thor pronounced as he attempted to get this get-up on over his armor. "And whatever evil designed this costume."

"You'll get yours, mighty Cabbage Thor!" Steve teased.

"That is cabbage-lighthouse Thor to you," Thor informed him.

"I apologize," Steve said, laughing. "The Mighty Cabbage-Lighthouse Thor. We should take a picture to show Tony what he's missing."

Ahsoka was already working at a disadvantage here with an inferior sense of balance and hearing, and now Anakin wanted her to wear that? The Force could only compensate for so much.

Was Vi trying to pull the arms off her costume the same way she did to the shirts? Yes.

Well, sports were definitely not Eleanor's forte, and doing them in a mascot suit was only going to add to that.

But at least, she thought, as she carefully tugged the suit on, if she did anything really embarrassing, she might be relatively indistinguishable from her teammates for anyone to notice or care.

Honestly, all of this was pretty much on track for what Yukari would expect out of a school-based competitive event.

So she was just ready to hit thr ground running.

"Whoo! Let's go, Choppies! Down with Nuts-kun! Get ready to feel the pain of defeat!"

Zoe hadn't participated in Anakin's madness in a while, so she wasn't surprised that her time had come. He didn't questions what she did with the school's money, and she wasn't going to question his choices in return.

Navaan, unlike most people in the crowd, was excited for the mascot outfits.

"FULL BODY COVERAGE!" she said, excited, running and grabbing hers.

"Is this a sex thing? Bestie, is this one of your weird sex things? Good on you for putting yourself out there!"

"Please stop making it weird," Anakin asked futiley.

Anakin, have you considered that her position on staff was high-key Zoe getting back at you for gestures to everything?

"Now, now, don't get all shy, bestie," Navaan said. "Owning up to your kinks is important, even if your kinks are super weird. Once you start accepting those, you can start working on accepting more of yourself."

Anakin gawked at her. "Um."

"It's true," Navaan assured him. "Would I lead you wrong, bestie?"

No, no she wouldn't. Not in life and also not in Friday's class, honest.

"Okaaaaaay," Steph's muffled voice wafted from somewhere inside the costume, which definitely did not have its eyeholes where she needed them to be. "This is going well."
