Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day

Whoever worked the weather magic around here had done an excellent job to make sure things were nice outside for all the new (and old) residents of Fandom. It was warm and sunny, but not so humid that people would melt. There was plenty of ~~moddable~~ food and drinks, places to sit in the shade, and more than enough nametags to go around. It was time to celebrate the start of the summer!

Clint wasn't teaching this semester, but he had a hungry five-year-old to feed, so he was here shoving questionable foods into his face while watching Lexi run around and do everything except eat. Ah, children.

... Hawkeye? Clint Barton? First Tony and now Clint? On this island?

At some point Kamala was going to stop staring at certain people in shock.

She did a quick one held pic of Clint and sent it to Kate who instantly responded with a "WTF?"

Aww, Clint was used to being the one people didn't take pictures of, so he was just going to enjoy this for a moment. "Hey there, can I help you?"

Oh. Ok. He’s talking. “Uh. No! Just a big fan of-“

She made vague gestures of shooting a bow and arrow.

“I’m new.” Duh.

Meanwhile her phone was exploding with texts from Kate.

"Hi new, I'm Clint." Sorry Kamala, he was a father now and these things just happened. "Did you have a good trip here?"

He'd helped with the bus before, he knew how Anakin drove.

“It was a crazy ride by the guy in charge of students who for some reason was wearing a bathrobe,” Kamala blurted out. And then winced. “Oh and my name is Kamala. Just Kamala.

Man, that phone was still just longing like crazy.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Kamala. So, have you been given the rundown that not everyone here is from where we're from?" Clint asked. You know, in case the guy in the bathrobe didn't give it away.

“Yes. I did know that,” Kamala said nodding a little too empathetically. “Fury gave me a dossier and that part was underlined.”

Actually Bruno underlined that to make sure Kamala knew that.

"Oh, you know Fury?" Okay, now Clint was genuinely interested and not just ready to appease an Avengers fan. "Well then, it's very good to meet you. Are you here to go to the school, go into hiding, or both?"

And now the text notifications from Kate had stopped and she was straight up calling. Kamala promptly sent her to voicemail.

“Just school! And an internship at Stark industries. Although I’m not sure how arts and crafts work into a college degree.”

"You'd be surprised. Somehow, the school makes it all work out." Glancing at her phone, Clint grinned. "Do you want to do a selfie together?"

Look at him with the youth lingo, he was so cool.

“What? A selfie? I mean…. Okay. If you insist,” she said as she immediately moved into position with a ridiculous smile and her armed held out at the perfect angle. Don’t mind the Captain Marvel wallpaper, Clint.

Oh, he didn't mind it at all, this was a moment he was going to genuinely cherish. He gave a smile to whoever this picture was going to go to - probably several people, but that was okay.

"If you end up with any questions that Fury won't answer, let me know. I might also not answer them, because Fury has my number too, but I'll at least try."

After the selfie, the phone starting ringing again which Kamala also sent to voicemail. “I really appreciate that but I have a feeling you might be from a different reality because my friend also knows you and is having a cow at the moment. But if I have questions I’ll definitely come find you.”

"Anyone interesting so far?" Kitty asked when she came over with her plate.

"Some of the new folks look like they'll be fun," Clint said. "We'll see what kind of drinkers they end up being."

"Hopefully fun ones who don't take it too far?" Said the person who ran a bar.

"I'm just hoping for nice customers who get to amuse you by meeting Tino for the first time," Clint said. "Have you seen anyone we have to look out for?"

"Not today. There's always Remy but he showed up last week," she said. "He was at the school when I was going up and back between there and here but I don't know if you ever interacted with him."

"I don't think so. He's the one with the cool accent, right?"

He had his own methods for keeping Kitty's people straight.

"He's from New Orleans, yes," she said with a smile. "He's from ahead of me in the timeline."

"Did you ever think we'd spend so much of our adult lives keeping alternate timelines straight?" The joys of living in this place.

"Yeah," Kitty said immediately. "My life was real weird even before this."
