In the Cupcake of Good and Evil, Tuesday 2nd Period [4/2]

"So, we just had Easter last weekend," Summer said, which, hey, could be a promising start? "So, you know how it is, lots of candy, chocolates, jelly beans….but another iconic symbolic part of Easter is an egg. And I know what you're probably thinking, you're probably thinking, 'but Summer, cupcakes usually already have eggs, don't' they? It's often an essential part of the batter!' And, yes, that's true, that's egg inside the cake of the cupcake, but what if we put the eggs on the outside?

"Like, here I have some maple bacon egg cupcakes, and, while the original recipe I found called for a gummy egg, I, of course, put a real fried egg on top. I guess if you were fancy you could do fondant, too!”

“Fondant looks nice,” Stark said. “It doesn’t taste very good. But probably better than a fried egg on the top of a cupcake…but we have plenty of egg-shaped candies that will work even better. Don’t we?”

They did. They had so much candy. It seemed like maybe T&C hadn’t sold as much as candy last week as they might normally have done leading up to a candy holiday. For some unknowable reason, clearly.

“We have mini eggs that can sit in little frosting nests,” Stark suggested. “Those are nice. Everyone likes chocolate and every part of them is meant to be a dessert.”

"I also made deviled egg and ham and egg cupcakes, too!" Summer reported, because of course she did.

Honestly, y'all were getting off easy this week. Even if getting off was easier last week.

Stark sighed a little and shook his head. “Summer. Why?” He knew the answer. He had to ask anyway. “Ham doesn’t go in cupcakes or on cupcakes and even bacon is questionable, really. And…deviled eggs? Really?”

"Yes," said Summer, confidently, and why ask questions you already knew the answer to, Stark? "Really."

"Yeah, maybe," Summer allowed, with a faint grin back as she took the offered questionably-even-a-cupcake from Stark. "Sometimes."

More often than not, really, but let the woman have her Unstoppable Force of Evil in the World cosplay, okay?

"You can try that one," Summer said with a nod, and a nibble on the absconded breakfast one. "I think I'll probably stick to yours. And I don't know, actually. I should, shouldn't I, actually? If I'm claiming to be such a terrible food scholar. But I just sort of figured back when they came up with it, doing weird shit to eggs was so out there that it clearly had to be the work of the devil."

Hey, maybe she should ask Lucifer. He'd love that!

Jesus, how long had it been since she even talked to that guy, wow.

"I think I'm really going to have to whip up some tuna meringue or something for next week," Summer mused, finishing up the breakfast cupcake and going for one of Stark's Easter candies one. "Just to make up for going easy on you guys this week."
somethingwithturquoise: (i'm just trying it on for fun)

Stark, the fastest way to get Summer to do something was to ask her to please not to!

But her response was all smirk.

"Oh, I know," she said. "But it is more fun when I do, don't you think?"
somethingwithturquoise: (smarmy know it all grin)

Yeah, okay, narrative, nice try.

Summer was just going to look at Stark's expression and shake her head and eat her cupcake, with a faint smirk that was obviously unrelated, really.

Summer opinion on the matter of the better cupcake, apparently, was just a shrug and taking care of a bit of rogue frosting on her thumb before giving a slight nod.

"Uh-huh," she said. "Right after class is done. I've found that seems to work best, timing wise."

"Yeah," Summer said, "probably. And then you've got shop class after that, right?"

Maybe because it was, inherently, actually a question he just wasn't quite ready to ask.

But Summer, who definitely felt like that was the case, had him covered.

"You wanna stop by after? I mean, it's not like it's out of your way or anything, and you can tell me what you worked on."

Tuesdays were kind of great, anyway, since Stark had radio in the morning, so she didn't even have to feel awkward about kicking him out to work on her jello.

"Especially if it involves more...nailing."

"That sounds perfect," Summer decided. "You think you'll be hungry for anything in particular?"

Maybe he could swing by and see what they were serving up at the diner today!

Well, there was a possibility that the chef might not even return from his lunch break...

"No requests," Summer said, with a softly eager smile and a gentle shake of her head. "Surprise me."

Surely, that wouldn't lead to any particularly distressing decisions to be made on his part!
