So, not only had Navaan remembered that there was class today, she'd gone out of her way to schedule a trip for it. Was it was her way of letting the class know she was fond of them, but in a way that didn't involve something like flang? Or was it just her ridiculous luck keeping her safe from angry (and bitchy) sorceresses? Honestly, who could say. The important this was: class trip!

Their portal dropped them off outside of Gorham Print. There, they were met by a dubious-looking tour guide. Gorham Print didn't often give tours of its printing facility and they had never given one to a small class of students being led by a woman in a plague doctor mask and cloak.

Sorry for your sensibilities, Tour Guide. But Navaan was still explosively allergic to the sunlight.

"Today we're going to show you how a large run of books are printed and produced for shipment to bookstores," Navaan said cheerfully. "And when that's over, I have a small surprise for you!"

Be honest, how many of you were a little afraid right now?

Graham just kept squinting a lot at the print shop's logo whenever he saw it, because he knew it wasn't, but it still felt like a weird typo that sort of messed with his head whenever he saw it. Kinda made his head hurt!

After the tour was over, the class was escorted back into a small room where there were snack platters and sodas waiting for them. On one table was a small pile of books with...interesting covers, and the name 'Felicia Navaan' on the spine.

"This is my newest book, hot off the presses!" Navaan said proudly, holding one up to show the class. It was literally still warm, yes. "You all get a copy. Yay!"

Congratulations?

"So until our portal back is ready, feel free to eat, drink, and read. Or even read out loud!"

Their tour guide suddenly remembered something VERY PRESSING that needed his attention. Elsewhere. Immediately.

Belle looked at the book, picked up a copy, and immediately picked up a soda as well.

What? She thought reading might make her thirsty!

If anyone wants to read a passage or two from Spicy Detective, they can! Alternately, feel free to read something from your own novel/novella/whatever!

Legit something like this happened to my bard once. She accidentally said something blasphemous in a church and temporarily lost her voice and hearing because of it. Spent the rest of that campaign always being twitchy about what she said about gods even though she still wanted nothing to do with them.

Gods, man. Can't trust 'em.

It also resulted in a fun plotline of her on her own having to cart around the dead body of the group cleric looking for the right religion to revive him because NOPE. NOT TAKING ANY CHANCES THANK YOU.

See, our group was super-lucky; our cleric (played by

chef_chocobo) was a beefy tank whose Spiritual Weapon was basically the MVP of the campaign. I think it took down more monsters than the rest of us combined. I don't even know if she ever even dropped.
