Library [5/1]

This is the last day Parker's going to be opening the Library. She has really mixed feelings about that. Partly because she'd like to hide under the Circulations Counter after some of the things she did this weekend.

The Library is open for all your research and book-return needs, 'cause today is also the last day of amnesty before Zero and her mallet are on a quest tomorrow.

Parker didn't lift her head from the counter. "I was an only child! I was a little spoiled! And, and..." She sighed and raised her head. "Thank you for not pushing me into the duck pond. And for saving Esme from further chocolate poisoning."

"Was? So you developed a mysterious sibling I am unaware of? And you're still spoiled." Broots's eyes were twinkling. "I wouldn't dream of pushing you into the pond. Really. And I felt sorry for the poor bunny."

Parker glared at him, but her mouth was twitching. "All right. Guilty on both counts. Esme's recovering from her binge weekend now. Just-- tell me if there are photos which are going to show up somewhere embarassing?" She darkened the glare a little.

"I'd be lying if I said that the idea never crossed my mind, but no, no photos done by me. I think the knowledge of just how much I now know should be enough."

Headdesk. Hands on top of head. "You are never going to be properly terrified of me again, are you? I'd have to break your arm to get that back."

"Oh no, I'm properly terrified. Hence the being a good two feet away." Broots took a few most steps just in case. "But I'm also, very, very amused. Why do you hate your first name so?"

And she'd love to snap at him, but he really was patient with Mini-Maureen over the weekend. So instead she sits up and crosses her arms, keeping her voice level. "It reminds me of my mom. She's the only one who always called me that."

Broots bit his lip. "Oh. Sorry. Um, it's a really pretty name, you konw. So any adverse effects of being five for two days?"

"Thanks." Parker cocked an eyebrow at him. "An unreasonable urge to nap. Otherwise, nope. Are you okay, after dealing with a couple-dozen insane small children all weekend?"

"Naps are good, no matter your age." Broots nodded sagely at that one. "And well, suprisingly, I like children. I have many wee cousins and it was pretty much like watching them. Only more weird because my wee cousins are always wee. But you'll be glad to know that one of them once tried to feed his pet turtle ice cream, so you are not the first in the pet torture category." Broots was back to grinning. It was really, really hard not to.

"Cease. Desist. And leave," Parker grumbled. "I'm glad you're okay, I'm glad I'm okay, and I am going drinking tonight to forget why either of our welfare was in doubt for a while. Thank you and bye, Broots." Her lips twitched, and then she made her voice high-pitched. "B'bye!"
