Phys Ed; Thursday, First Period [11/16].

The weather ~~according the weather report anyway~~ still continued to be stubborn in not yet turning toward much colder temperatures, and so of course Gladio was going to continue to try to think of reasons to get the class out of the gym and into the great outdoors to get their physical activity in while they still could. Which was why the class was meeting out by Selkie Lake that morning, and why he'd spent the morning hauling a bunch of different kinds of boats out from storage.

Would it have been less work to just have booted up something in the danger shop? Probably! But it just wouldn't be the same.

"Hey, guys," he greeted everyone with a nod once he figured anyone who was making it today was present and accounted for, "good morning. In case you haven't put two and two together yet, today we're talking boats. Got a few different kinds for every level of comfort, and, of course, safety jackets if you don't know how to swim or are just not very confident in your swimming ability, but that water's pretty cold this time of year, so you'll probably do well to just stay topside if you can help it. And before we head out, I'll definitely go over the best way to do it with the various types of vessels we got here. Nothing too complicated, some more of a workout to manage than others, but hopefully it should be a good time. If you've got any particular issues with going out into the water, though, you've got some alternate options. Well..."

Here, he trailed off a little bit into a grin.

"Your other option'll be laps around the lake, so...choose wisely."

You could also just, you know, leave, too, and it's not like it as going to be held against you as far as your grade was concerned, but as far as Gladio's opinion of you went...well...

He clapped his hands together. "Let's get started!"

Options for boating today will include paddle boats, row boats, kayaks, and very small sailing dinghies, and Gladio will go over a little bit of how to manage each one, but it really breaks down to whether you're feeling like it's a leg day or an arm day, and whether you want to go solo or partner up.

Safety jackets are definitely required for everyone, even if you insist you're an expert swimmer, but take your pick of a boat to try and hopefully, Gladio won't have to come out and tow you out of the center of the lake because you got stuck there!

Nell was definitely nervous about the whole boat thing, but she decided on a row boat and figured she'd hope for the best.

Jon was definitely wearing a safety jacket without complaint. And he might not be as good as Martin, but he could row. He wouldn't be going anywhere too fast, but he wouldn't capsize.

Who thankfully doesn't know enough Styx yet to have Come Sail Away stuck in his head.

And after she'd shakily managed the boating part of the morning, Nell found a quiet spot out of the way to wait till class was done and the rest of the students had left.

And after he'd managed to make sure all the other students got it back to shore safely without being drowned or stranded in the middle of the lake, Gladio made his way over to tat quiet spot out of the way with a grin, although he didn't quite yet sit down beside Nell. Instead, he sort of cocked his head back toward the boats now sitting quietly after their various excursions.

"Interested in a Round Two?" he offered. "Or do you think you're pretty boated-out?"

"I don't mind if you're with me," Nell said with a smile. "I know I'll get back safely if you're with me and I can just enjoy the water."

"Plus," Gladio pointed out, now offering out a hand out to Nell, "I'll do all the rowing this time. Unless your legs are feeling left out and you wanna try the paddle boats."

After all, you never wanted to skip a leg day!

"We could try the paddle boats," Nell said, taking his hand and letting him help her to her feet. "They look fun, if a little tippy."

"Which probably won't be helped much by an uneven distribution of weight on each side," Gladio pointed out with a laugh, and he thought, briefly, about just helping Nell up to her feet but found out that he really couldn't help himself with using that offered hand and his strength to not only pull her to her feet but maybe pull her in a little closer to him, definitely close enough to try and wrap his arm around her and grin down at her, "but I think we can manage."

And, if all that worked according to plan, there was absolutely going to be a kiss in there, too, because how could there not be?

Nell laughed a little breathlessly as Gladio pulled her in close and obligingly tipped her chin up for any incoming kiss. "I guess you'll just have to work extra hard to keep me safe then," she said, her arms going around him to hold him equally close.

"A little extra hard work never bothered me any," Gladio assured her, taking a moment to just hold Nell like that and appreciate it, before that fond, satisfied grin on his face tilted just a mere second before he did, shifting in a way that him bending and moving to scoop her up.

"So you don't have to waste any of that energy you'll need to keep up with my paddling," he explained, "with walking over there."

Nell laughed and hung on to him as he carried her. "You'un sure do like scooping me up," she said cheerfully.

"You're pretty nice to scoop up," Gladio pointed out. "It's a good fit. And much easier on my neck when I do this."

This being lifting her up a little more so he could better lean in for another kiss.

Nell wound her arms round his neck and kissed him back with all her heart. "Gonna need to perch me on a rock or something to save your neck," she said when they broke briefly to catch their breath. "Seeing as I'm not likely to get much taller."

"Maybe I'll have to start carrying around a step stool," Gladio suggested, though considering, musing tone in his voice greatly exaggerated, as was his expression, but everything about his grin was genuine. "Have you considered platform shoes?"

Nell actually giggled. "Then you'd really have to carry me because I'd be falling over everywhere!"

"Wouldn't be the first time I had a cute girl falling for me," Gladio pointed out with a wink, because how could he not? And even if he maybe took his time to prolong the journey a little, they reached the boats at that point and he went to set Nell down.

"But I think we can skip 'em," he decided, "my neck can handle it."

And, naturally, he was going to prove it with another kiss.

"Got a preference for which side?"

"Oh you," she said with a fond grin and a little wriggle as he set her down. "Good thing I love you!"

She was happy to oblige him with another kiss - and maybe one more just because. "I have no side preference - whichever one I'm least likely to get wet on."

Oh no! Sad! Why sad?

Because Gladio clearly stole the last boat beer.

Dammit, Gladio, that was going to be the base of a delicious fish and beer pie recipeh and you drank it.
