School Announcements, April 28

Yes, the announcements are early this morning. Yes, they come half an hour before first period. No, Zordon does not sound smugly delighted at all.

"Good morning. The following teenagers with attitude will all report to the Danger Shop tomorrow morning for detention:

Callisto, Martin Blank, Nadia Santos, Belthazor, Isabel Evans, Janet Fraiser, Zero Hopeless-Savage, Blair Sandburg, Miss Parker, Elizabeth Weir, Samantha Carter, Anakin Skywalker, Alanna Trebond, Piper Halliwell, Cameron Mitchell, D'Anna Biers, Walter Dornez, Bridge Carson, and Veronica Mars."

No no no, that wasn't a tiny, subtle chuckle. The PA system's just being weird and glitchy.

"In other news, several pirats are attempting to recreate the recreation of the voyage of the Kon-Tiki in the basement pool. In the name of pirat-ical research, we ask that if you use the pool today, to please have courtesy and not disrupt their trip. That will be all. Thank you, and a moment of silence for A Chorus Line, which closed sixteen years ago today on Broadway after 6, 137 performances."

That sound, just before the PA shuts off? The one that sounds like the fadeout from the end of "Thriller?" It is the fadeout from the end of "Thriller." Really. Zordon can't really laugh like that. Honest.

Parker stares at the loudspeaker. "Damnit!" So much for spending all of Saturday with Jarod. Maybe they'd let her work on her Russian essay in Detention?

Not at all.

"Detention?"

Janet hadn't been paying attention to the announcements. then she heard her name in the list of students with detention. "I have detention? What the hell?"

On the other hand, Nadia had detention too this week. Things could be worse.

Isabel started wondering what the odds were that this time she'd get to glitter tools instead of having a nightmare. "Stupid lottery."

Nadia wondered if this detention had anything to do with her first successful mission for team Anti-Emo.

It would explain why Veronica had it, too. Though not everyone else.

"Oh, dammit," Anakin snapped, buried in notes for his journalism paper. "Like I need another Saturday wandering around covered in cotton candy."

Veronica groaned. "What the hell did I do?" she asked to the air. She had a feeling that she wouldn't be lucky enough to have Ms. Gilmore-Danes and have fun this week. She just hoped she'd be out in time for her date.
