Phys Ed; Thursday, First Period [10/12].

It was another good day for taking advantage of the weather and having class outside on the lawn rather than inside in the gym or the danger shop, which was also good because a lawn was exactly the sort of place where a game like today's was best.

"Morning, everyone," he greeted the class with a nod, a plain oblong ball tucked under his arm. "Now, I'm sure you all know about next week being the school trip and everything, so, naturally, I went to see what kind of sports were popular in New Zealand, and came up with rugby as the most popular one, so that's what we'll be talking about today. You know the drill. Start warming up and stretching while I talk a little bit about it, and then we'll hit the field."

"Now," he continued, "as I understand it, rugby's another form of football, but it's closer to the kind of football we didn't talk about last week, in that it's based on carrying the ball across the field rather than kicking it, and the balls have similar shapes, too. It's also a contact sport known for being pretty rough, but, especially as newbies, I'm sure we won't have to worry about that too much."

There was a bit of a warning, in that statement, with a particular look toward Alara ~~assuming she was there~~, because the idea of her tackling any of her classmates just felt like a recipe for disaster, although if she really wanted to, he could probably take it.

"So let's go over the rules and gameplay, and then we'll hit the field."

Ready to get out there and run around with a ball!

Use your time while Gladio breaks down rules that'll totally definitely make sense right out the gate if you're new to the sort to stretch and warm up, or ask any questions you may have before getting into the actual physical activity for the day.

Well, with only four people in the class, it's a little hard to play a good, proper game of rugby, so consider it more rugby light, where most of the rules just discussed are going to be dismissed and it's just one team trying to run the ball to the goal while avoiding the other team, and, of course, that means a breakdown of three games between the following teams:

Game 1 is Jon and Alara vs Graham and Nell with Jon and Alara getting the most points.
Game 2 is Jon and Graham vs Alara and Nell with Alara and Nell getting the most points.
Game 3 is Jon and Nell vs Alara and Graham with Jon and Nell getting the most points.

But, yeah, no, it's mostly just going to be running around with a ball and trying to avoid each other for the rest of class.

On the one hand, Graham was pretty spry and quick, with long legs that could carry him pretty quickly down the field, but, on the other hand, Graham was also terribly clumsy, and was more likely to have trouble tripping over his own two feet when he tried to dodge his classmates when he had the ball than anything else.

But he did take a tumble like a champ!

Nell spent more time laughing as she and Graham stumbled down the field - or didn't even make it down the field - during the first set.

The other two were easier, if less fun.

Who actually would like to see how he did in an actual rugby game now, and was wondering if that'd be something he could make happen next week.

As usual, Nell hung about after class to talk to the teacher. She was pretty hot and sweaty and her clothes were grass stained, but it had been more fun than she had thought it would be. While she stretched out comfortably she couldn't help but smile as she thought about how much fun the warrior women would have the rubgy. There was sure to be bloodshed.

And, as usual, Gladio waited to make sure no one else needed him as everyone started to filter out at the end of class before he went over to join Nell.

"Well, you look like you were enjoying yourself out there," he observed, with a particularly approving grin toward those grass stains ans the smile on her face.

"It was fun," she agreed. "Graham always makes me smile. He's so happy."

She leaned back on her elbows. "But I was mostly thinking how much the warrior woman would like rugby." They'd probably take to it like ducks to water.

"He reminds me a lot of Prompto at that age, actually," Gladio mused, with a snort, because, let's be honest here, that still went for Prompto at his current age, too, "but with more confidence, which is....a scary combination, really."

There was no way that kid wasn't going to make something of himself one day, that was for damn sure, and Gladio had to admire that, before he chuckled again at the rest of it, shaking his head.

"That would be a game I'd like to see, actually," he said. "Maybe next time we run into them, we'll have to teach them and see where it goes."

"We could," Nell said resting back and watching the clouds. "Funny, but I wouldn't be nearly as uncomfortable playing a rough game with them as I would be, say if it was one of Anakin's summer activities. Maybe because I'm used to getting knocked around by them and I trust them?"

"And that trust can go a long way," Gladio said with a nod. "Plus, they know enough about what they do to avoid really causing any damage...unless they want to, but....they adore you, you're one of them, they wouldn't...definitely not for just a game."

"No, I imagine it would be a whole lot rougher with just themselves playing," Nell agreed. "And they are really good with me."

She glanced over at him. "You they might go all out with though. You really impressed them when you were there."

"Well, yeah," Gladio's face broke out into a grin and he leaned on to nudge Nell a little with his elbow, "I'm a pretty impressive guy."

Modesty? Don't even know her!

"I think I could probably give 'em a good run for their gil on the rugby pitch, too."

"Well, I know that," Nell said, nudging him back with her own grin. "And I would pay cash money to see that match-up."

"Oh, yeah?" asked Gladio, who was now leaning his shoulder into Nell's. "How much cash money?"

"Well, I'm a poor widder woman," Nell said innocently. "But I'm sure I could scrape together a dollar or two to see you'un."

"Remind me again," Gladio teased, "how those online orders have been going?"

"There's always bartering," Nell suggested brightly.

"Maybe," Gladio allowed. "Depends on what ends up on the bargaining table."

"Let me think," Nell said, tapping her chin. "What about Cup Noodle doctored up with the best and freshest ingredients?"

"Now that is a good bargain!" Gladio declared, with a laugh, and it settled into a faint grin as he looked over at Nell for a moment.

"Throw in a kiss," he added, leaning in to maybe see if he could claim that part of the bargain now, "and you've got yourself a deal."

"Perhaps you'd like a sample kiss now," Nell suggested primly. "To make sure it meets your expectations?"

She closed her eyes and tilted her head up, puckering her lips.

"Oh," Gladio said, tucking a finger under Nell's chin go gently lift it closer as he moved in, "I know it will, but it doesn't hurt to make sure."

Nell smiled as she leaned in a little closer to kiss him. "Always best to check."

Not gonna lie, I still have no idea how rugby works. I barely know how football works.
