Again, the classroom is neat, almost barren, as the students file in.

"You have the day today to work on your final projects," Dream said. "We have Furball, who lives with Nadia Santos, in class today for those of you who would like to interview a cat, and of course Mr. Neilson is available for Monkey. I can also summon Bruce, for Sharkspeak; my raven, Matthew; Racso, the rat; or a spider called Charlotte."

"If you have already done your interviews, or you wish to work on a different language, you may leave class."

Interview, study, or take the day off.

Blair hunkered down with his notes on snakes and worked on making a list of questions to ask once he tracked one down.

Jake had decided to interview Charlotte the spider. So he'd brought an extra mug of coffee today, and was doodling while waiting for her to appear.

"Salutations!" said a voice by Jake's ear.

Jake turned his head. "Greetings! /I have brought sweet bitter brown brew for you!/"

Charlotte tilted her head, her many faceted eyes catching the light.

//You have? Well that is very nice of you. What is it for?//

//It is for...// Jake hesitated. //Eating?// He pulled his notebook closer. //What do you feed on// normally?"

ooc: OMG! *flails at lack of comment notification*

Charlotte lowered herself to the extra coffee.

//Oh yes, there's something like this often in Wilbur's slop... Templeton seems to like it... But then Templeton eats anything.//

She let herself down on the edge of the cup.

//Normally? I eat what happens into my web. Horse flies are the best, they're usually quite plump.//

Jake frowned. "Equi-wha-- Oh! Horse flies! Okay." Scribble, scribble.

//What brings you amusement joy pleasure?//

Charlotte thought about that for a moment, tapping the side of her head with her left foremost leg and rubbing under what could be considered her chin with the right.

//A good meal of course.// she mused. //The vibrations in the web caused by a fair sized catch is quite exhilarating. And I've made some friends where I live. Seeing them happy makes me happy in return.//

She finally dipped forward and took a drink of the coffee...

//Hmmm, this sweet bitter brown brew is quite delightful as well. Thank you for bringing it my dear.//

Jake beamed. Bringing the joy of coffee to new beings was very rewarding.

//No troubles! You talked of friends? What kind of friends are they?//

//Oh all sorts.// said Charlotte, tapping her right foremost leg with her left as she listed them off.

//There's Wilber, he's a pig. Wilber's such a sweetie, I live in the rafters of his sty. And there's some geese, and sheep, a horse, some cows... There's a little human girl as well, but she never says very much... And there's Templeton of course... Not that he'd probably admit to being anybody's friend, but he's quite the softy when you get down to it. He's a rat.//

"Huh. //I didn't know spiders were so friendly,// Jake noted. He scribbled down some more notes. //Why do you make webs?//

//Well I myself would say that I build webs because I am compelled to. When I first hatched there was just something in my mind that said, "And now I must build a web." Of course it's how we catch our food which is very important. But I think that even if I didn't have to use it for that, I'd still build webs. I've also discovered a certain desire to be... artistic. To make something that is pleasing to look at. For instance, I am known in my area for making webs that the local humans can see messages in.//

"Ooh, that's cool," Jake said. He looked pretty impressed. //I create...// um. //colour things? That makes me joy...// um. //Happy.//

He looked down at his notepad again. //Do you have a spider family hatchlings?//

"Hi Furrball!"

Furrball paused midgroom and blinked up at Pippi.

//Hello, human-companion-of-my-human.//

//Are you enjoying your day out of the enclosed place where you live with your human?//

//Very much. It is good to look at things that are not in the enclosed place where I live with my human.//

Furrball gave Zero a lazy glance. //Very well, I will go talk to her. Thank you.//

Zero makes a list of notes to ask of a cat once she tracks one down, since Furball seems previously engaged. Or maybe she can flip it and interrogate one of those spiders that hangs out in her room...

Furrball sauntered over slowly, so as to make sure that Pippi and Zero were both aware that it was his choice to come over and talk to Zero, and that no one was making him do anything.

//The human-companion-to-my-human indicated you might wish to talk with me?//

Xander ~~totally has plans to do his interview while he's weetiny~~ is still working on exactly what he might want to ask, let alone who, or possibly vice versa, so he greets each of the guests politely, but then scraminates to ~~slack off~~ study his notes someplace more comfortable ~~like bed~~.

Walter sat down to organize his notes on his interview with Furrball, keeping an eye on the cat as Nadia had requested.
