Why did the entire island smell a bit like chocolate pudding? It was probably nothing, right?

"Welcome to our team-building exercise today!" Anakin yelled through his megaphone. "It's based on a series of obstacle courses called a Tough Mudder, but mud is too easy! Since everyone enjoyed this so much last year--" debatable, "--we are doing it again!"

...that would explain the pudding smell.

"Working in teams of four, you will race around the island, conquering each obstacle! McGarrett, stop looking so excited about this. Listen for your names! NO POWERS."

Working in pairs, you must straddle what looks suspiciously like punching bags from the gym. Use the ropes Anakin has helpfully strung across the park's pond and make your way from one side to the other!

Summer straddled her bag easily, taking just the briefest second before it all began to roll her shoulders back and stretch her arms in front of her. "Alright," she said. "Let's really put all that working out I've been doing to good use!"

She was going to have to, because look who she was working with.

"At least I won't make it too much heavier?" Beta offered sheepishly.

Someone was nooooooooot going to be getting out of bed tomorrow, probably. There was only one Elisabet Sobeck clone who could kick ass on this course and it was not this one.

Oh, dang. That was not encouraging, and Summer gave a doubtful, somewhat skeptical, somewhat hopefully pleading look over at Beta, because, yes, she'd been working out, but also...

"You are going to at least try, though, right?" she checked, because it was one thing pulling herself across, but herself and some dead-ass weight?

A year ago Beta might have asked why she should even try, because it was hopeless anyway.

She nodded, though.

"I'll do my best. It might not be much, but I'll try."

Stark had been hitting the gym for a while now. Maybe this would go well! He hoped so, at least, as he positioned himself on the bag.

"Oh, hey, I remember this one," Vi said. "It's not too bad."

Why did you have to say that out loud, Vi?

"I think we can manage," Stark agreed.

"You know I had a dream like this once," Isabela said. "It was a lot sexier."

"I'm plenty sexy," Steve proclaimed, grinning. "The shirt does nothing for me."

"Ok this is fine... this is doable..." Connor said trying to figure out how best to balance on the awkward and cumbersome bags.

"It doesn't look that difficult," Eleanor observed, frowning thoughtfully at it a little bit herself. "Which I'm sure means it's even harder..."

"Right- something too easy/good to be true it usually is... especially with the dean involved" Connor muttered as he tried to get situated and shifted for Eleanor to get on when she was ready.

"All right," Steve said, giving Graham a big smile. "This'll be fun!"

And he honestly thought it would be!

"It will be fun!" said Graham, with the upmost sincerity and a big flash of a grin back, as well as two very enthusiastic thumbs up, before he hurried over to mount his float. "Let's do this!"

If anything, maybe they'll make it across on their positivity and wholesomeness alone!

It was a lot of wholesomeness! "And one, two, three, go!"

"Meep meep meep meep," Beaker said, realizing he could sit or he could hang onto the rope, but he could not do both. Sorry, Gray.

"It's okay," Gray assured him. "I got this. I just finished my nap. You just...don't fall off."

Beaker's meeping sounded a lot like "no promises." Sorry, Gray.

"Well, let's do this," Steph said, wondering why she kept deliberately choosing to do these activities.

Guillermo looked a little nervously at what they were supposed to do, "it doesn't look very secure," he was very much out of his element with these activities, he was trying not to think about how likely it was that he was going to fall into the pond.

"Could be worse," Steph said encouragingly. "Like that one with the super gross greased up pole hanging twenty feet over the ocean? That was so many kinds of horrifying."

Not that they weren't going to end up being a different brand of gross later, when the chocolate pudding stages of this torture scheme kicked in.

Guillermo blinked a bit at that, "I think I missed that one," he admitted and now feeling rather glad he hadn't been there for that one, "I mean it's only water right?"

Knowing full well that Diaz wasn't about to waste any time, Amaya just went ahead and saddled up all on one end of the punching bag and gave the other end an encouraging pat before gesturing Cutter over.

"Well, then," she said, "only one way to get across this pond, and that's to get a move on already!"

Cutter was looking just a little unsure about being near the pond but he took a deep breath, reminding himself that he was going to be fine, “uh right,” he said as he made his way over to Amaya.
