Non-Deadly Heroics, Monday, Period Two

Had Isabela and Aphra realised over the weekend they could've saved themselves some trouble if they hadn't already done a class on naps just last week? Yes.

Had they just reused last week's pillows and couches with the addition of a projector playing cartoons for this week's class and promptly snuck off for a cheeky mimosa brunch? Also yes.

Charlie giggled wildly and jumped around after Graham fell, considering whether she should just jump into the mass of pillows herself. Her eyes went wide when he scrambled back up and she took a step to the side as he swung at her.

The pillow connected semi-firmly and Charlie let herself plop into the pile of pillows. "You've killed me!" she yelled out dramatically. "I'm dead, dead, dead!"

"Huzzah!" Graham cried again, triumphantly, as he lifted his fists in the air and did a little victory jump. "Take that, you fiend!"

But he realized, just then, that victory was apparently a little lonely, what with his enemy dead, and so he decided to give a sudden gasp out, hand to his chest, as he declared, "Oh, no! I'm dead, too!"

And, with that, he fell back, dying swiftly and dramatically on the pile next to her with his own guttural groan of demise.

For about two seconds, before he cracked open one eye and looked to see if she was still dead after his death and trying very hard not to giggle.

Charlie was a little jealous of his dying, so she added some dramatic gasps and flailing to her own, before falling back against the pillows again. She opened her eyes to peek at him and laughed when she saw him peeking at her. "Hah! Nobody's dead!"

"It'll take a lot more than pies and pillows," Graham said importantly, opening up his other eye so that now he was especially not-dead, grinning over at the girl and turning to his side to get more comfortable on the cushions, "to make me dead! I'm gonna be a brave knight one day! Just like my dad!"

Charlie turned over too. "I'm gonna be the best at walking the Wood," she told him. "Even better than any of the Aunties. And they're good."

But she didn't think she wanted to be an Auntie. Blech.

"What's walking the Wood?" asked Graham. "Is that like adventuring? I go adventuring in the woods all the time, although Mother says I need to be careful, in case some wizard or witch tried to snatch me up and enslave or eat me! But all my friends are out in the woods. I'm friends with all the squirrels and rabbits and birds and raccoons and Triumph, of course, you saw him at the pie booth, but he doesn't live in the woods, he lives in a nice comfy room at our house!"

"You talk a lot," Charlie said. "But I like that 'cause you're intressing. So I won't let any witches or wizards eat you. I'll sic the Aunties on 'em, like this." She held up two little fists.

"I don't have a Triumph, but if I did I'd let him sleep in my bed with me 'cause he looks snuggly. And then we could all walk in the Woods to go from one place to the other in the bink of a lie!" Or, you know, something like that.
