Intro to Fandom, Monday 11/14, First Period

Both teachers were in front of the class this week, as usual, but only one of them was the usual size.

“I don’t know that having a class today will be worthwhile,” Stark said, glancing over at his still tiny co-teacher. “But I suppose we can try.” He could at least try and keep any and all small children in one piece. And if he failed he was already heading to the clinic after this.

"We're going to do drawing!" Summer chimed in, proudly, holding up a sketchbook and a box of crayons. "And coloring! Because I'm one of the teachers," pause here for the admiration and awe due to her for such a revelation, "and I said so!"

“Because Summer said so,” Stark agreed. It wasn’t like he’d say no to her, tiny or not. “And she’s one of the teachers.” And because letting small children color probably wouldn’t end in disaster.

"Mmmm," said Summer, with a thoughtful nod, as if tail length was something very often a noteable difference between cats, but she was ready to move on, and the next picture was the best one, anyway.

"And this one," she announced, smoothing it out from where it got crumpled a little by her hand, therefor presenting him with an image of two figures standing next to each other. One was in a very nice fancy suit (you could tell because it was black and white and had a bow tie) and a fancy top hat and, most importantly, a mask, and the other one was dressed in a very fancy white gown with a veil, only her face was covered with a few scribbles and squiggles. Between them was a table with a multi-tiered cake that had similar squiggles, as well as some little spiders and bugs and there seemed to be some kind of liquid or ooze dripping from it, down the tablecloth and puddling underneath it under that table and also a bunch of hearts floating in the air. "Is your gross wedding.

"See?" she pointed things out helpfully still, like any teacher would. "That's you, and that's your gross friend. Her face is all covered in maggots and pimples, because she's gross, and that's your gross cake with all the bugs and worms crawling all over it. And you're smiling, too, see, because you like that it's gross, because you're gross, too. And all the green lines is for being smelly, because it's also a smelly wedding."

And then she just sort of pulled herself up proudly with a good deal of confidence in the masterpiece laid out before them.

"You should definitely get a hat like that," Summer informed him, expertly, with a nod. "It's fancy, and accessorizing is important. And obviously, I didn't know what she looked like, since you wouldn't let me go find her, and until you can prove otherwise, I'm just gonna assume she looks gross."

She shrugged her shoulders, because thems the breaks, Mr. Glowy Face.

"And yes," she decided, "you can keep it. I'm pretty sure only a gross person would want to, but since we all know now that you are gross, it just makes sense."

"You were going to say pretty," Summer accused, grinning because Mr. Glowy Face thought she wasn't going to catch it, but she did, he was going to have to be way better than that to try to fool her! And speaking of which...

"You know," she proposed loftily, "for someone who says they're not gross, you seem to have an awful lot of gross friends!"

Summer just pointed to the irrefutable evidence of her drawing.

"You think your gross friend is pretty," she countered, "and you like that she's gross. I think that's a pretty gross thing to do."

There was a small pause.

"But the donuts," she said, feeling it was important to make sure everyone knew this part, "are not gross, you're definitely good there."

Summer knew blatant bribery when she saw it, thank you! Her dad did that all the time! So Stark was getting a withering sort of amused look, as she lifted her chin and stated, for the record, "Well, pink donuts are the best donuts. And I'll try to be clearer about which of your many, many, many gross friends I'm talking about in the future."

There was a small pause, as she went over all the rest of what Stark had said.

"I bet his wives are pretty gross, too, if they married him. Is he married to them all at once? That sounds pretty gross, too, unless they have other husbands. Then, it's equality."

"That is the kind of donut a gross person would like," Summer decided.

Which wasn't to say that she didn't also like cream-filled donuts, but maybe she was a little bit gross, too.

"Yeah," Summer admitted, with an absolutely shameless but pleased grin, "pretty much.

"But it's okay," she added. "I like that you're gross."
