Intro to Fandom, Monday 11/14, First Period

Both teachers were in front of the class this week, as usual, but only one of them was the usual size.

“I don’t know that having a class today will be worthwhile,” Stark said, glancing over at his still tiny co-teacher. “But I suppose we can try.” He could at least try and keep any and all small children in one piece. And if he failed he was already heading to the clinic after this.

"We're going to do drawing!" Summer chimed in, proudly, holding up a sketchbook and a box of crayons. "And coloring! Because I'm one of the teachers," pause here for the admiration and awe due to her for such a revelation, "and I said so!"

“Because Summer said so,” Stark agreed. It wasn’t like he’d say no to her, tiny or not. “And she’s one of the teachers.” And because letting small children color probably wouldn’t end in disaster.

And Summer had a lot of pictures she wanted to draw, so she was going to get right to it and get to work, but she would happily pause to be a teacher if anyone needed her!

It was a little bit later into class that Summer, clutching a fistful of drawings, went to go see her co-teacher.

"Do you want to see my pictures, Mr. Glowy Face?"

Only one of them might be horrifying! But Summer did think that was the best one, so she was saving that one for last.

"Welllllll," she said, importantly, as she laid out one for him to see, and then another, and pushed the forward across the desk. "This one," she pointed helpfully, although the sheer pinkness of it was a pretty good indicator of what she was about to explain, "this one is me, but as a pony. I've always wanted to be a pony, you know. And this one," which was also going to be pretty obvious, she felt, as the pony-shaped figure looked exactly the same shape, only there was a blob on the face that was clearly his mask, "is you as a pony. Look, see, I even added glowy edges around the mask so you could be sure it was you."

Because apparently just the mask alone wasn't enough of an indicator.

"If I was a pony," Summer explained, tilting her head a little at the drawings and deciding that, yes, he was right, she did do a very nice job on the mask and the glowing, "then my mom would have to pay more attention to me, because then it would be her job. And I think you'd make an okay pony."

She was a harsh but honest critic, at least.

"This one," she set down and slid the next forward, "is the cat in the place where I'm staying right now. She looks like a pancake."

And, in fact, she did look quite a bit like a pancake in the drawing, just one that also had four legs, a tail, and some whiskers.

"You do?" asked Summer, looking up at Stark now with interest. "Does she look like this?"

Helpfully, she pointed to the picture as if it wasn't already the topic of discussion and as if that yellowish-brown oblong circle with vaguely cat-like accoutrements could possibly ever resemble any actual living, breathing cat.

"Mmmm," said Summer, with a thoughtful nod, as if tail length was something very often a noteable difference between cats, but she was ready to move on, and the next picture was the best one, anyway.

"And this one," she announced, smoothing it out from where it got crumpled a little by her hand, therefor presenting him with an image of two figures standing next to each other. One was in a very nice fancy suit (you could tell because it was black and white and had a bow tie) and a fancy top hat and, most importantly, a mask, and the other one was dressed in a very fancy white gown with a veil, only her face was covered with a few scribbles and squiggles. Between them was a table with a multi-tiered cake that had similar squiggles, as well as some little spiders and bugs and there seemed to be some kind of liquid or ooze dripping from it, down the tablecloth and puddling underneath it under that table and also a bunch of hearts floating in the air. "Is your gross wedding.

"See?" she pointed things out helpfully still, like any teacher would. "That's you, and that's your gross friend. Her face is all covered in maggots and pimples, because she's gross, and that's your gross cake with all the bugs and worms crawling all over it. And you're smiling, too, see, because you like that it's gross, because you're gross, too. And all the green lines is for being smelly, because it's also a smelly wedding."

And then she just sort of pulled herself up proudly with a good deal of confidence in the masterpiece laid out before them.

"You should definitely get a hat like that," Summer informed him, expertly, with a nod. "It's fancy, and accessorizing is important. And obviously, I didn't know what she looked like, since you wouldn't let me go find her, and until you can prove otherwise, I'm just gonna assume she looks gross."

She shrugged her shoulders, because thems the breaks, Mr. Glowy Face.

"And yes," she decided, "you can keep it. I'm pretty sure only a gross person would want to, but since we all know now that you are gross, it just makes sense."

"You were going to say pretty," Summer accused, grinning because Mr. Glowy Face thought she wasn't going to catch it, but she did, he was going to have to be way better than that to try to fool her! And speaking of which...

"You know," she proposed loftily, "for someone who says they're not gross, you seem to have an awful lot of gross friends!"

Travis was coloring! He was a great color-er!

The walls were totally free reign for coloring, right?

"You can have a green one," Summer decided, with a magnanimous nod, and a good deal of importance and ceremony in finding a green crayon to pluck out of the box to bestow to Travis.

"What are you going to draw with green? A tree? An alligator? Maybe a snake?"

Since she was one of the teachers, she felt it was important that she foster an interest in what the students were drawing and help encourage them creatively, after all.

"A puppy!"

Didn't you know those came in green, Summer?

By the very skeptical look on her face, apparently not!

"A green puppy?" she asked, doubtfully.

So...so much for that whole encouraging creativity bit!
