Non-Deadly Heroics, Monday, Period Two
Aphra and Isabela had told the class to meet them outside the Perk for today's class, and both of them looked worse for wear but also extremely pleased with themselves.
"Now, kids, if for some bizarre reason you didn't see the appeal of becoming a pirate and are still intent on the whole hero business," Isabela started. "One very important thing about staying an alive hero is that living heroes get to enjoy things like this."
Aphra pushed the door open and waved the class into the Perk, before she and Isabela followed them in. Once they entered, the Perk fell silent for a moment before one of the baristas started slowly clapping, they were soon followed by the rest of the staff and before you knew it the patrons were also on their feet applauding them. The barista who started this all came over to shake their hands, and while their voice couldn't really be heard over the noise, there was something about free drinks for life?
Eventually, Aphra waved the cheering crowd into silence. Or at least a lower volume. "Look, no hero type will ever get into the business for the adulation, at least, not that they'll admit to, but if you do something heroic, it's nice to be around after for people to appreciate you."
"Just something to think about," Isabela said, gesturing grandly around the room. "Enjoy a drink and talk with each other about whether you'd prefer to be commemorated or celebrated."

Said with a gesture toward his cloak.
He also had a pie in there right now, but he was saving that, in case of an emergency.
Re: Class Discussion - NDH 05
He had emergency pies in his cloak? He should see the pies in Charlie's refrigerator!
Re: Class Discussion - NDH 05
actually continue in a gamesave his family from an evil magician, so it was good that he was learning that level of foresight now."Anytime but Friday's a good time, really," said Graham, "but if it's a cupcake you want, Charlie, then it's a cupcake you shall have!"
He was already sliding back his chair to stand up to go fetch some. "What kind would you like? Chocolate? Vanilla? Strawberry? Peanut butter? Should I surprise you? Sprinkles?"
Re: Class Discussion - NDH 05
She considered her options for a moment. "Surprise me," Charlie said finally. "But yes to sprinkles and lots of frosting!"
Re: Class Discussion - NDH 05
And, with a jaunty twirl of his cloak, Graham departed for the counter, where he could peruse the available options and make his choices, and returned with two plates, each bearing a sprinkle-ridden cupcake with a few extra dabs of frosting he's talked the baristas into, and he set them both on the table with a dramatic bow.
"Neapolitan cupcake, my good lady?" he asked. "Three flavors, all the the price of one!"
Another dramatic twirl of his cloak as he regained his seat, scooted the chair close to the table again, and lifted his in a toast.
"Cheers!"
"Also," he added, now having to speak around a bite of cupcake, "I think Wednesday sounds like a good day for pizza."
Re: Class Discussion - NDH 05
"And Wednesday sounds perfect."
