Dream is still smiling as the Creature Languages students file in.

"Hello. We have a very special speaker today, someone who has been among you for the last four months. Please welcome Mr. Nielson and his human companion, Pippi Longstocking. You may ask him questions to practice your Squirrel Monkey vocabulary."

"Remember your final project proposals are due in one week."

//Good morning,// Walter says, and sits back to let some of the other students have time with the teacher.

//I am well, teacher for today.// Walter didn't want to monopolize Mr. Neilson's time, since he'd had a private session Tuesday night at Cafe Fina.

//Why don't you tell the class what I taught you about my name in my language?// said Mr. Neilson with what may be an evil glint in his little monkey eye.

Evil glint? Walter knew the master shiny red evil glints from more eyes than you can count.

He would scoff if it weren't rude.

Instead he answered //Your name in your language is a kind of joke with the word for monkey and the word for the way my kind wear clothes. So your name is the two together, "Humon."//

This kid? Never going to be a teacher.

//Did you have any other questions?//

Definitely never a teacher. //No other questions. I groom you for your help.// Hopefully not literally.

Mr. Neilson is just amused by a room full of people who can finally talk to him, so if he thinks the question is lame he doesn't show it.

//Oh yes, we don't just eat them because that's what folks keep giving us. They really are a favorite. It's very funny to watch your kind eat them however.//

//Why is it funny to watch us eat them?//

//You open them from the wrong end.// Mr. Neilson said.

Stark thought very hard about that question and whether or not he could answer it in Squirrel Monkey.

Stark shook his head.

//Bored? No. I just like to be busy, to have things to do.//
