Topics in Sith Philosophy, Friday
"Good morning, everybody." Lana sat on the floor and encouraged them to do the same, although the chairs were still there if they preferred.
"Last summer term I taught the Sith code, and I thought it might be interesting to explore a bit more about it. Those of you who weren't in the class, the Sith code is the basis for and reflection of Sith beliefs:
"Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.
"Now, I'm here to teach you that's the truth or to convince you of it. What I hope to do is to show you that it is a truth that some in my galaxy believe, and to pull it apart, talk about some ways it's been used, and discuss the good and bad that can come of it.
"However, for today, what we're going to do is introduce ourselves, naturally, and I've brought coffee." She waved at the cups of black coffee and packets of sugar and creamer she'd gotten at the Perk. "I'd also like to hear a bit about your personal philosophy of your life and goals, and if you have any initial thoughts on the Sith code."
She nodded at the first student to start.

Class activity
"Recently I've joined a group of people who come at using the Force from many different outlooks, some of which are entirely opposite, and it's been a challenge, albeit one I've been enjoying. I hope all of you come out of this class with, if nothing else, an appreciation for other points of view and the ability to look at things from many different angles."
She nodded at the next person to start.
Re: Class activity
Kurt hesitated a moment trying to think about how to explain it.
"Back home where I am from... people like me, Mutants, those with special powers and abilities... we are often hated and feared because we are different. Humans don't understand us and don't try to get to know us so they hate us and are afraid of us. Many of them... try to hurt us, attack us, even kill us at times. That is power in the wrong hands. They think they are doing good... but..' he gave a little shrug not sure what else to say.

"And I know you know," she nodded to Lana, "that I do find the fundamental principles of the Sith Code flawed at its very base, but I still find it fascinating, and maybe, with time, I'll be able to understand it better. Or at least find it helpful in some way."
