BWI Airport Portalocity Lounge, Saturday
The plane down from New York hadn't taken long, but after all the time in airports, TJ was ready to be done with it all, and was regretting her refusal to let Dad take her in the jet. But nope, she was doing this on her own, no overprotective parents around.
Somehow, she thought the biggest danger here was going to be glitter. The stuff was everywhere. Most of it was concentrated on a huge banner that read FANDOM HIGH, but it never stayed just where you put it, did it?
She wheeled her suitcase over to one of the seats and perched on the back of the seats, tail out for extra balance, and took out her phone to text back that yes, Dad, yes, Mom, she'd made it just fine. And then maybe to whine to Aunt Kate about how she'd had to do that.
[Newbie shuttle ahoy!]

Wait for the shuttle
Re: Wait for the shuttle
He had packed as many of his books and research papers in two very large suitcases, plus the additional work he’d been doing on the plane in a smaller suitcase . He definitely had more books than clothes at this point, which he’d packed in a duffel bag.
His phone rang in the process of making his way over to the waiting area, adjusting his duffel bag he picked it up and checked it even though he knew it would be Stephen. He then put the phone back in his pocket without answering it and looked around.
“Well I think I’m in the right place,” he remarked with a rather bemused look at the banner and all that glitter.
Re: Wait for the shuttle
Look, she'd been on this level for ages. She didn't want to screw it up.
Re: Wait for the shuttle
Sorry TJ, Cutter was used to dinosaurs running through England but everything else was still new to him.
It felt rude to say something about that so he nodded, “erm…yes,” he said, small talk was really not his strong point, “at least it made it easy to find,”
He was really bad at this.
Re: Wait for the shuttle
"Definitely that," she agreed. "We'll probably be finding it all over for weeks."
She glanced up again, actually took in who she was talking to, and ventured, "You a teacher?"

She sketched a fast charm on the front of the bus, hesitated, then sketched a safely charm next to it. No sense injuring her fellow students before they even got to this Fandom place.

But then she'd been met at the gate by the half the Zamundan embassy, including the ancient ambassador her grandfather had appointed in the sixties. He was deaf as a post - or at least, pretending to be - so he insisted on escorting her to the shuttle, complete with Rose Bearer Priestesses (three of them) were there in full regalia, sprinkling rose petals on the ground before her.
Because the heavens forbid that her feet touch the naked ground.
She'd managed to convince him of the importance of traveling incognito (at a half-yell, which wasn't actually great for subtlety, though at least it was far enough away from the shuttle entrance that she didn't think the sound carried much), though he still stubbornly refused to dismiss the priestesses until they were at the Fandom sign and she was able to point out she was in the right place.
And now she was going to slink over to a chair and hope that nobody had noticed. Somehow.
She'd been in America for half an hour and things were already going not to plan.
Re: Wait for the shuttle
"And I thought my folks were bad."
Re: Wait for the shuttle
Meeka continued to look like she wanted the ground to swallow her up, which hopefully solidified TJ's impression. "They are priestesses from my home country," she said, eyes still firmly on the floor in case a trapdoor handily appeared. "We have a, err, custom. To be greeted with flowers from home so that our first, err, steps in a foreign country are...reminders of who we are."
That was even mostly technically true!
