Summer Shenanigans, Wednesday, August 10, 2022

Today there was a ring of chairs in the middle of the park, so that was fine. Musical chairs was a very normal game to play!

Of course, this was Anakin...

"Today we're playing Musical Shares!" Anakin announced through his completely superfluous megaphone. "It will be one giant team building exercise!"

That seemed ominous. "Come get your shirts!"

Oh, they were Hawaiian. And had Anakin's face on them.

That...that was a choice.

Anakin read out his names for the day:

Twelve people, two chairs.

You know this was coming.

Jon, Jo, Summer, Steve M, Sakaki & Stark versus Beaker, Will, Lana, Libby, Belle & Goose. Who gets settled first?

"I feel like I do enough competing for resources back home," Lana noted. "Is the point of this our agility, or the chairs' stability?"

"Pretty sure," said Libby, unable to help herself, considering who it was that asked, and already trying to make her small smirk a little more contrite and apologetical, "it's all about balance between both..."

Oh, don't be at all apologetic for that, Libby! Lana laughed outright. "Well played. Personally, I feel a better answer would be a larger chair, though."

As if there would ever be enough galaxy for Sith and Jedi, but in the current case, that was definitely an answer.

"Meep meep!" Beaker said, getting ready to jump onto someone's shoulders. He was light, it should be fine!

"Pretty sure the point is to make us all look as stupid as possible," Will said, as he managed to sit down. Somehow. Sorry if anyone ended up feeling rather squished.

"We will likely all look foolish," Belle said, looking at the chair skeptically.

"We're wearing Master Skywalker's face on our shirts," Lana said dryly. "It doesn't get much more foolish."

Jon got a chair early. He was probably going to regret that, wasn't he?

He was absolutely going to regret this!

"Scoot a bit or get ready to be squished, brah," Steve said. "We have to fit six people."

"Oh, good lord." Jon scooted as much as he could. And promptly fell off the chair and scrambled back on.

Stark looked at the two of them and just shrugged helplessly.

"...where will I fit?"

"Where will all of us fit?" said Summer, trying very hard not to think about any more fitting with Stark and already knowing that they were doomed to wind up that way and almost resigning herself to that fate until something else came up.

"Like, do the rules specify sitting? Could we all just, like, stand on the chair?"

Just trying to throw out more unique approaches here! That didn't involve laps.

Summer had gotten far too good of a look at Stark's lap area recently so it was probably best not to think too much on that. Probably.

"I think we'd fall." And then land on each other and that wasn't better.

"It might be best, though," Jon admitted reluctantly. Look, he had already fallen. He was resigned to this.

"So...two sitting, two standing on top of them and two on their shoulders?"

No. Steven, no.

"Er..."

Jon wasn't sure which of those options was the worst. There were so many possibilities!

"Maybe two sitting, one sitting between them with one leg over each, one sitting on each of the other legs, and one laying on top of everyone else?" At least that spread the weight out a bit.

Summer took a moment to sort through all that and put the pieces into place like a mental puzzle, and nodded. "That...actually might work?" she offered. "Like a sitting cheerleader pyramid, or something, so the bigger, heavier ones on the bottom, and we work our way up to the lightest?"

"Steve ought to go on the bottom," Stark said. "And...me?" Jon would get squashed, obviously.

This was not an attempt to have Summer back on his lap! But if it worked out that way, well. Then it was Anakin's fault, wasn't it?

Hopefully Goose was sitting first. Anyone else would likely be effectively squashed!
