The games were set up in the park today, which was a good thing, and there weren't even piles of ugly t-shirts today: another good thing!

There were very ugly socks instead.

And baby pools filled with...well, let's just call it water and not ruin the surprises. People who had been around for previous summers probably already remembered what happened with socks.

"Today you will be working in small groups to keep these pools up over your heads as you lie on the ground," Anakin explained. "Once you are settled in place with the pools, you must then go in a circle and each remove one sock from your feet without dumping the pool contents onto yourselves. And then go around again."

That was a rather mean smile, Anakin. "No powers. Listen for your names."

"Really?" Gray looked at the socks. He might be judging her parents' taste in art now, but, you know, inside his head, because sometimes he could have a little bit of a filter. "Does that make it too weird that it's socks now? I mean, they're already plenty weird."

The Hazlett house was very sparsely decorated in general, but when it was, it was either drawings of Bible stories done by the kids themselves, cross-stitches done by the older girls of Bible verses, and pictures of Jesus. So, you know, that was a very fair and just assessment.

"I definitely agree that they're weird even without that," she agreed. Helpfully? She had no idea.

"I mean, I guess it could be worse, it could be the ones that make your feet look like meat." Was that worse? Gray wasn't sure. "Either way, I don't really want them, so I thought you might?"

"I mean," Libby looked at Gray with uncertainty, "I...sure. If you're sure you don't want them, anyway..."

She had no idea what she'd do with Jesus socks. She was honestly still working on why they were even a thing.

"I am one hundred percent sure that I do not want the Jesus socks," Gray affirmed.

"Then....I will...gladly take the Jesus socks," Libby decided, with a nod. "Thank you?"

She really hadn't meant for it to sound like so much of a question.

"You're...welcome?" Gray also sort-of-asked, looking very dubiously at the Jesus socks.
