The games were set up in the park today, which was a good thing, and there weren't even piles of ugly t-shirts today: another good thing!

There were very ugly socks instead.

And baby pools filled with...well, let's just call it water and not ruin the surprises. People who had been around for previous summers probably already remembered what happened with socks.

"Today you will be working in small groups to keep these pools up over your heads as you lie on the ground," Anakin explained. "Once you are settled in place with the pools, you must then go in a circle and each remove one sock from your feet without dumping the pool contents onto yourselves. And then go around again."

That was a rather mean smile, Anakin. "No powers. Listen for your names."

"Absolutely not," Buck said. "Mine have a pun."

"And you can't resist a pun." Damn it, Buck.

"Obviously you can't either if you want to trade." It couldn't possibly be because Eddie hated his own socks. They were so cool!

"Sure, we'll go with that," Eddie replied with a very serious nod. "And not wanting to look like I'm one of those guys who watch a pony show."

Eddie Diaz: closet brony.

"See, that thought it didn't even occur to me." Now he was thinking about it though. "That was all you."

"You would have gotten there," Eddie replied. Because he believed in you, Buck.

"Maybe," he said. "Could be a shirt with unicorns, think about that."

Eddie pointed in a way that said he wanted to tell Buck not to jinx him, but would mean admitting jinxs were real. Which he wouldn't do.

"I'm standing further away from the crowd the next time I come as an EMT."
