The games were set up in the park today, which was a good thing, and there weren't even piles of ugly t-shirts today: another good thing!

There were very ugly socks instead.

And baby pools filled with...well, let's just call it water and not ruin the surprises. People who had been around for previous summers probably already remembered what happened with socks.

"Today you will be working in small groups to keep these pools up over your heads as you lie on the ground," Anakin explained. "Once you are settled in place with the pools, you must then go in a circle and each remove one sock from your feet without dumping the pool contents onto yourselves. And then go around again."

That was a rather mean smile, Anakin. "No powers. Listen for your names."

Fourth place, Connor tips it on the second round of sock removal, and your pool is full of ice water and gummi fish.

Steve, was, per usual, going to take this entirely too seriously. "Okay," he said, clapping his hands together, "this will just take some focus, communication, and teamwork!"

"Bro, for real?" Steph asked, laughing.

Steve grinned at her. "I don't like losing."

"Considering what we're going to get doused with if that thing tips," Steph said thoughtfully, casting a wary glance at the pool, "that's a fair point. Why is he like this?"

"Not enough hugs as a kid," Steve decided.

"That was my theory too," Steph blurted out. "Stark was going to go hug him after last week's grease-fest. That probably wasn't enough by itself."

Steve laughed. "My partner thinks I didn't get enough hugs and I've never even dabbled in the deep end of the crazy pool asking if I should drop kiddie pools full of Kool-Aid onto other adults."

"I know a lot of people who didn't get enough hugs and none of them have ever come close to doing that," Steph replied, chuckling. "Or inflicting eldritch horror shirts on us on a weekly basis."

"I should probably check the police records and make sure they've never come to life," Steve said.

"Ok who and the what and the where now?" Connor asked, beyond bewildered, still trying to figure out how he got himself into this let alone HOW they were going to pull this off!

"Back on ground, legs in air," Steve said. "Pool on top of our socks, then we all go in a circle balancing the pool between the rest of us while someone takes off their sock. Easy!"

Not easy.

"I'm pretty sure that is the opposite definition of easy there mate" Connor said as he tried to get into a somewhat comfortable position.

Steve grinned. "The only easy day was yesterday, brah."

As Connor tried to get situated onto his back he was suddenly very glad for one thing.

"Good thing I left Rexy back at the office..." he said with a shake of his head. "He is obsessed with kiddie pools. Would probably be even harder with him flying around us, getting in the way."

"Right," Steve said, who had know idea who or what Rexy was and was picturing bird, possibly fairy. "This'll be challenging enough."

"Right. For sure," Connor said somewhat surprised at that response seeing as most people seemed pretty interested in Rexy.

"So, anyone got an idea on how best to approach this?"

"Clockwise?" Steve suggested. "Steph, you, Amaya, me, then the kid and back to Steph."

"Hope none of you have been skipping leg day!" Amaya, fueled by horrible inspiration, cheerfully offered while getting ready to settle into position, chicken socks and all.

Steph huffed with amusement. "I skip all the days, are you kidding me?"

"Lies," Amaya snorted right back. "You're in my class. No way you're skipping arms on that day."

"It totally doesn't count if I'm having fun though," Steph argued good naturedly.

Though she may have shot a pointed look in the direction of a certain BFF who was constantly giving her shit about her arms, too.

Well, lying next to Steph with their legs in the air certainly wasn't going to be distracting or anything.

Goofy chicken socks notwithstanding? Not distracting at all, nope! Good thing about the ice water that was going to hit them, huh?

Given the ice water was going to hit them right after they learned a few things about each other's flexibility, you might argue it was perfectly timed.
