There was a definite smell of grease in the air along the beach that should worry anyone who'd every experienced one of Anakin's Wednesdays before, and that was only if they didn't notice the enormous, greased-up pole resting between two wooden scaffolds about ten feet above the water.

Or the greased-up pigs in a pen.

Or the greased-up flag pole.

Anakin liked a theme, that's what we're saying here.

"Today is all about adaptation!" Anakin yelled into the bullhorn when everyone had arrived. "Your teams have to attempt--individually--get get across the pole in the water and then up the flag pole. Your times, should anyone complete these tasks--will be added together, along with your efforts in the pairs greased pig collecting competition. Fastest team wins."

Who took Anakin to a county fair. Really.

"Listen for your names! There will be five teams of six and you may not use any special powers to assist yourself or your teammates. This is all physical prowess and mental stamina."

Suddenly greasy foods on sticks aren't seeming that appealing, huh?

Get your t-shirts, plan your strategies, such as they are.

But not in a "Grease is the word" way.

All of these become easier as the grease falls off, so the first folks to go have about zero chance to make it across. It gets sliiiightly easier after about half the group has gone over. Take your shoes off, hope for the best, and run!

Just like going across, going up gets easier the more people have attempted before you. This one requires arms strength as well as balance, so noodle arms (sorry, Beaker) will have difficulty! The order of attempting to get up the pole goes:

Anakin had gotten enough pigs for each team to have their own to chase in the large pen.

Kurt had had enough of lounging in the dorm room and so had decided to check out shenanigans that day. He found a seat, and breathed a small sigh of relief when his name was not called. You never knew how these shenanigan things could go after all.

Now to turn on Obi-Wan. #priorities

Travis . . . did not get far, no. He knew he wouldn't. He made it approximately three feet on pure momentum and then went flailing into the water.

Maybe being wet meant he could take that stupid shirt off now?

This week's shirt was cute enough that Vi almost felt bad about tearing the sleeves off. Almost.

Well. At least this time Travis went 21st instead of third. And brute strengthing it up a pole was more in his wheelhouse than the balance beam act of the first round.

He so very nearly made it all the way up. So nearly. He was just a hair, just a breath short of the top when he slid down.

"Oh come on!"

McGarrett loved his new t-shirt. It was so much better than last week's with the cleavage.

Travis looked at the pigs.

"That man is a sadist. Plain and simple."

Duke barked a laugh.

"I am so wearing this on my next date with Luce."

"Wait, Hawt Dawg Man?" Steph was maybe kind of amused until she got a better look at the shirt. "Oh. Eh, close enough."

Please. Duke was a sailor. Balance on slippery surfaces? Not a problem. And he was nice and close to last.

He not only made it across, he made it look obnoxiously easy. Those who'd gone before him and ended up in the water were welcome to hate him for it.

Isabela was delighted with her new shirt, thank you.

This was . . . slightly less Duke's specialty. Oh sure, he could climb a pole with the best of them, but the ones on his boat at least had rungs built in. And weren't coated in grease.

Look, he'd managed well on the last challenge. Someone else would need to pick up his slack on this one, okay?

"Easier or harder than wrestling a tuna?"

Harder, Duke. So much harder.

Kennedy'd had some time to kill on a portal layover between her world and Emma's, so stopping in for a visit had seemed like a good idea. Getting roped in to do this was just a total bonus, and she was absolutely laughing her ass off at the shirt.
