Unlike many classes this summer, they were back in the danger shop. But there was nary a tavern in sight for a change! Instead, it was a race track with a number of go-karts at the ready for class to start out using.

Surely nothing could go wrong here, right?

"Welcome! Welcome all!" Jaskier greeted cheerfully. "Welcome to... what was this class called again?"

"Something about driving." This was the kind of class that happened when Cara turned her phone off for a week to avoid Jakier's messages. "And us teaching them."

"Oh. Ohhh." Jaskier made a very worried face as he looked at the go-karts more closely. "Do you know how to drive one of those?"

Because he sure didn't!

"It can't be that hard, people on the mainland do it all the time." Congratulations, everyone, you were signed up to a driving class with teachers whose worlds hadn't even invented the steam engine yet, let alone the internal combustion one.

Jaskier nodded and clapped his hands together. "Alright then. Let's all grab a go-kart and... then you can share your names and what you hope to learn. So that we can... add it to the list of lessons." That they definitely had. Yep.

They certainly weren't going to start watching movies for ideas. Cara pointed to a random person. "You first."

Or what passed for one here.

Pick a go-kart and let them know who you are and what you want to learn here.

Then hopefully don't crash it.

Who were super good at the subject matter.

I don't like summer.

Sakaki

It wasn't like Vi knew anything about go-karts or cars, so she just picked the closest one, trying to figure out the controls. "Vi, and I don't know, everything?"

Gray

"I'm Gray, and I'd like to learn to drive safely?" He sounded very dubious about whether this was possible.

Also, he was so going to crash this go-kart.

"Neither do we!" Jaskier said brightly. Because clearly that's what you wanted to hear in a class with vehicles. "So, I'll just put... basics on the list of things."

That he'd have to learn in order to teach.

"Well, here there are at least safety protocols," Jaskier assured him. "Many a bar fight, never any injuries!"

If you wanted an idea of other classes he's taught with Cara, there you go.

Sakaki's lack of sleep had turned her into a quietly sobbing mess over a shirt, so she was really sort of worried about what today might be, but at least she didn't have to worry about breaking down over the cuteness of go-karts or the possibility of people eating them.

"Ano," she started with uncertainty, but at least she was able to remember some of her English this time around, "Wasta--errm, uh, I mean," she cleared her throat a little, "my name is Sakaki, and, uh, I, uh, this class seemed....useful?"

She clearly had doubts about that now.

But, at the same time, she figured as long as she could manage how to learn how to drive enough to be better at it than Yukari-sensei....that would be good. That could potentially save lives.

Jonathan Sims

"I'm Jonathan Sims. And I've lived in London for years and have rarely been driving, so I thought it would be good to learn a bit more." He was not at all certain now that this class was going to be the place for that.

"Yeah," Vi agreed, because they were still better teachers than Aphra. "Like how to start."

Also break, Vi, breaking was important.

"Maybe a button of some sort?" Jaskier ventured. Because he definitely seen Rey use buttons on her space ship. That seemed logical, right?

"Oh there's this one," Vi said, pressing it.

For some unknown reason the Danger Shop had programmed these go-karts with nitrous oxide engines, and Vi's shot off like a firework.

"And I'm certain it will be useful," Jaskier assured her. Because they'd totally research this. Vin Diesel was good source material, right? Was he a little sleep deprived manic about this? Yes. Yes he was.

"And London is...?" He just had a British accent for fantasy reasons, Jon. Not for logistical ones.

"Stay safe!" Jaskier called after her. Because they were for sure going to get fired for this.

Sakaki's eyes drifted doubtfully from the teachers, to the go-kart, and then back again, all in a sort of slow, skeptical sweep, but she didn't say anything about any of her further reservation. She wouldn't have said anything even if she wasn't feeling too tired to bother.

She just reminded herself that surely, no matter what happened, it couldn't be worse than being in a car with Yukari-sensei.

So why did those feel like famous last thoughts?

"Oh." Jon blinked. "Erm. It's a large city with public transportation and little need for or place to put a car."

Clare Devlin

"So, small vehicles would be useful for you?" That's what he was clinging to for class ideas, okay?

"I'm Clare? Devlin? And I want to learn to drive so I can get out of Derry," Clare said.

"No, I, um. I don't live there anymore," Jon managed. "A-although, this place needs small vehicles too."
