Shop Class
Sam was standing in the front of the room, her hands in the pockets of her jeans. "Um, hey, guys. So, Mac isn't back yet." She shrugged. "So, you're stuck with me for at least one more class. So sorry, please send any complaints to the administration."
She adjusted a few dials on the equipment, setting up the familiar junkyard. "So, today's project--use the materials you find here to make something that will make it easier for you to study for finals, or that you will give someone else to make it easier for them to study."

Project
Re: Project
Eventually, she found a pair of old sunglasses she could knock the lenses out of, and some aluminum foil and a pair of old, large headphones that needed the wires replaced. She collected all this together, pulled out her roll of gaffer's tape and her leatherman, and set to work.
When she was finished, she had a pair of lenseless glasses with blinders on the sides and tops of the frames, connected to the now-working headphones, which she plugged into her discman. She flipped through the CDs she kept her in backpack, and pulled out a trance ablum, stuck that in, then sat back, satisfied with her project.
Re: Project
But when in doubt, build something for somebody else - he has a roomie who really deserves more than just a t-shirt for her birthday, after all.
Xander pokes through the available scrap, and comes out with two relatively matching, if somewhat bentinated, magazine racks. A pair of pliers and some slightly achey -- Mole Men, yo -- elbow-grease later, most of the bendy problem is taken care of.
There's always wood, and that'll work for the main part of what he's building, though the hinge is tricky and is probably a little more functional than pretty by the time he's got the pieces cut and one set inside the other. It'll do, though.
Attaching the magazine racks on either side of the flat wooden piece, as both legs and, well, magazine racks, or snack-holders, or whatever somebody might want to drop inside them, completes the project, except for spray-painting the whole thing white and waiting around for it to dry.
It kinda looks like this, only a whole lot more
clumsyamateuruh... rustic. Yeah.Re: Project
He sets about modifying something he saw in a vid-movie once. He finds an old helmet and attaches 2 thermoses to either side. He then finds metallic tubing to act as straws and attaches them to the tops of the thermoses.
"There!" He says when he finishes. "Coffee helmet! Instant dispensin' of liquid fuel!"

Possibly too cheerful. She eyed him warily. "It's just a hologram, Kawalsky. You can't adopt it."

The answers to the universe are in that holographic baby purple dinosaur. She knows this now.
. . .
Twinkies would be really good.

not yet thought-upproject. He might just have glanced up and grinned, holding out a second one towards Nadia. It's possible. Actually he might have been kind of grinning randomly and without actual awareness of same, all morning.Re: Chatter
The holographic baby purple dinosaur wasn't talking, though. That was kind of frustrating. Or it would have been, if Nadia weren't pretty sure it was thinking them to her and trying to connect with the holographic baby purple dinosaur on a telepathic level.
She hadn't succeeded yet. She probably needed more brownies first.
