Anakin swept (very dramatically) into his normal classroom. "Hello everyone and welcome to Diploma--" and then he glanced down at his paper for the first time since submitting his course.

"--DRAMA? DRAMA?! I don't know anything about drama."

Well, not teaching it, at least. Anakin embodied drama. "I"ve only been in one play!" he said, then looked very thoughtful.

Two minutes later and Fosse was lurching in with a television unearthed from an AV closet that probably hadn't been opened since 2008. "Here, we'll watch that holiday pageant and, um, discuss the artistic choices we made."

Or mock the hell out Anakin, age 18, and his hair. Or both!

Vi didn't pay attention to the actual play to start with, because she was far more fascinated by the fact someone had figured out moving pictures (that weird room that was either magic or might as well have been didn't count), but then she did.

At first she didn't let out more than an amused snort, but then things just kept happening, and by the time they got to the comedy striptease (though that would've been much improved if they were both girls) she was laughing so hard she could barely breathe. She honestly couldn't remember the last time she'd laughed this much.

Sorry, Anakin, Vi was too busy holding her ribs (because it turned out violent laughter and half-healed bruises didn't mix) and giggling to discuss anything.

Anakin was just so wrong.

"Sure it was," Vi said, finally catching enough breath to talk. "How long did you practice those prat falls for?"

Anakin laughed ruefully. "Not nearly enough."

"Could've fooled me, you guys pulled it off perfectly."

To the point Vi had all but forgotten she wasn't talking to some performer from the Lanes.

"Thank you," Anakin said, grinning. "We liked to stay in the moment?"

ie: made everything up right that second.

"Well, it's great, and I can't wait to show Pow-" Vi sobered in an instant as her brain caught up with her mouth and she remembered she couldn't show Powder.

Kiem had been laughing at the silliness of the performance, but now he felt he had to ask:

"Is that what we are supposed to do?"

Not that he was easily embarrassed or difficult to talk into doing silly things, but it was good to be prepared at least.

"Well, maybe with fewer jazz hands," Anakin said.

He added:

"It made sense."

He should perhaps stop talking.

“That was one of the best things I’ve ever seen,” Guillermo enthused. Yes he had also clapped at the end like the massive dork that he was. “The jazz hands were incredible,”

Wait til he found out he had just watched a vampire do jazz hands.

He was being completely sincere about this as well.

"If you do some to the bartender at Caritas on Saturdays and do jazz hands for her, she'll give you a discount," Anakin said, nodding. "She was in the play too."

“Oh wow,” Guillermo eyes were wide with excitement there, “I will definitely start practicing,” not that he really needed the incentive to try out jazz hands, “is there anyone else who was in the play who is still on the island?” he tilted his head curiously.

"Well, my wife," Anakin said. "The, um, shimmying tree."

"Oh she was a very good shimmying tree," Guillermo told him, nodding, "especially with the jazz hands,"

"You know?" said Troy, after a long, long moment of mostly just being spellbound by all of....that. "This is just another example to add to the list of reasons why people in my religion don't celebrate Christmas."
