Was Cara looking especially smug as the class filed into the Dangershop, set up with their trusty bar sim, albeit with the furniture moved to the sides and a punching bag set up? Yes. She totally was.

"Not even just a bit of singing?" Jaskier wheedled. Because it was his life blood! Also, he was the damsel in distress, not the fighter in this story and everyone knew it.

No doubt even people who weren't even in this class knew it. "Fine. If we need a soundtrack for anything," Cara replied under her breath, already regretting it as she raised her voice. "Welcome to 'ALL PUNCH', which because this place always needs clarifying is about learning to punch."

"And not breaking something important in your hand," Jaskier added as it was one of the only things he could contribute to a fight. That and hiding under a table.

"Which is something we'll be covering today," Cara said. "Because in addition to the normal introductions you should've realised by now that you'll be making, we'll also be introducing you to making a proper fist."

Which left Jaskier pointing directly at Cara for that part. You know. In case anyone was confused about the punchy gal here.

Cara sighed, audibly, and held her hands up, curling them into fists. "As you can see, my thumb is outside my fingers and my wrist is straight, both of these reduce the chances of hurting yourself more than whatever you're trying to hit."

"Now!" Jaskier said, clapping his hands together. "Let's all give it a go, shall we?"

"Yes," Cara said, grinning at Jaskier. "In turn you're going into come up, introduce yourself, for example, I'm Cara, show me you can make a proper fist, then give the bag your best punch. Starting with Jaskier."

"Oh gods, no." This would end poorly, class.

Guess who came up with the class this semester, just guess.

It figured that the one class she was actually looking forward to was being held in a bar. Vi breathed in deeply, then focused on trying to look for all the ways it didn't resemble The Last Drop.

Introduce yourself and make a fist for Cara to inspect.

"Vi," she said, not offering up any other information as she lazily held up a fist. Thanks to copious icing, there wasn't even any evidence of her morning.

Cara only wished more people on this island were as circumspect.

She looked over Vi's hands, someone had taught her well. "Adequate."

“I’m Alara Kitan,” Alara said as she held up a fist, at least her early morning gym sessions were coming in handy for something. “I’m a sophomore, from a high gravity planet called Xelaya, so my strength is greater in Earth like gravity,” she revealed.

"Interesting," Cara said thoughtfully, in a way certainly didn't indicate the class was going to regret it, then nodded her through.

"Illyana Rasputin," she intoned, forming a good fist for Cara to approve.

She generally preferred hitting things with something, but she'd done more than her fair share of punching as a child.

And if she'd had bad technique, Cat had simply beat her until it improved.

Cara's own experience had been similarly motivating, even if she now had doubts about its true effectiveness.

She gestured towards the bag. "Go on."

So far she was pleased with what she was seeing from the students.

"Troy Barnes," said Troy, who quirked up his chin, gave his shoulders a good roll, and then, letting out a breath, braced himself and raised up a fist.

But the fist clearly wasn't the important part.

The important part was also making sure to hit Cara with the Forest Whittaker eye, too.

And Cara had had such high hopes based on the class so far.

"You're not going to be able to hit anything like that."

"Arabella Baylor," Arabella said, holding up a fist for Cara's consideration.

Well, this was a relief after Troy. "It'll do."

Once your fisting technique passes muster, give the bag your best shot.

[No, I'm not even sorry.]

Vi was moving even before she'd gotten the all clear, the bag clanking satisfyingly on its chain from the force of her punch.

Illyana regarded the bag for a moment, her eyes calculating.

And then she hit it with a flurry of blows, not as powerful as Vi or Alara, but extremely fast and respectable strikes.

Yana knew her advantage while in this form was being little and fast. Could she break someone in half? Probably. But that would require more rage (and magic) than she wanted to use in a classroom.
