Student Council meeting (lunchtime)

Josh was waiting for the Student Council.

"Sorry I wasn't here last week--I had a thing." He looked around the room. "So. Prom, Poker night, other stuff. Tell me what's going on."

"Pirates... ninjas... what's a significant thing here for the school and the seniors?" Parker looked over at Angel. "Okay, we're not decorating City Hall like a cemetery. Just to rule that out."

"Combine the pirates with the water theme? Though I'm still not decorating. Speaking of, Parker, feel like volunteering for the decorations?" Alanna beamed at Miss Parker.

Parker sighed. "In the interest of us not ending up with some lame Zombies of the Lost City theme, yes. I'll get that organized." And worst case scenario, it would look exactly the way she wanted.

"Thank you! Um, food wise, what does one typically find at a prom?" Alanna made another check on her to do list.

"There could be a sit down dinner, a buffet or finger foods," Elizabeth said. "Buffet's going to be the most expensive."

"Can we get the Freshman to act as servers? Or get one of the restaraunts in town to cater?"

"It might be worth looking into one of the restaurants perhaps? Especially if they will cover the clean-up costs as well. Depends on the budget, I'd guess."

"I think our budget is 'whatever is in my pocket at the time'. Any recomendations for a restaraunt to bug?"

Elizabeth laughed. "So, we're not charging for tickets then? That's a novelty."

She thought for a moment. "Off the top of my head, no. It might be worth looking further afield. Places on the mainland will have experienced this before."

"All right, we are charging for tickets. Congrats, you're selling them this Wednesday!" Alanna beamed at Elizabeth. "And maybe get the Chinese place in town?"

Elizabeth's eyes widened. "Um. Okay then," she said. "That means we'll need to set prices and get them printed up."

"Let's see, we already have 500 dollars that need to be covered. Say about 50 people show up. Is fourteen dollars for non-seniors and twelve dollars for seniors too expensive?"

Elizabeth grinned. "Considering some proms charge about $100 a couple, I'm thinking that those costs aren't too expensive at all," she said.

Alanna blinked. "Oh. Then bump the price up to twenty-five and twenty-two? I have no idea how much these things are supposed to cost."

"Sure, that works. Gives us some capital to play around with for decorations, the photographer. How about band costs?"

Alanna flapped a hand. "Ask Pippi about that. Um, she's on band, and she and Parker are on decorations. I'm just the general over-seer person. Photographer? Wah?"

"Proms have professional photographers on hand to take pictures of couples and groups. For memories," Elizabeth explained.

[[ooc: Word of warning! I'm googling proms here because I'm English and clueless!!]]

"Um, can we find someone at school who can take photos? Or convince the principal to find someone?"

"Well, it's not just the taking of the photos. There's backgrounds and presentation of the photos as well," Elizabeth explained.

"...Right. Hi art class." Alanna made a few notes on her notebook. "I'm just going to be running around bugging administrator types Monday, aren't I?"

Elizabeth bit her lip. "What's wrong with Lost Cities?" she asked, grinning slightly and ducking her head.

Parker cocked her head warily. "You really want a volcano in the middle of the ballroom for Pompeii? I guess it *could* be done right. Are you suggesting something?"

"Well, I've always been partial to the story of Atlantis," Elizabeth grinned, eyes twinkling. "Which fits in with the water theme that was tossed around."

"Fine. Atlantis. El Dorado. Angkor Wat. Troy." Parker ticked them off on her fingers. "We'll do different areas in different themes, maybe mess with the lights for different songs. Works?"

Elizabeth nodded. "Sounds good to me," she said.
