BWI Airport Portalocity Lounge, Saturday morning

Kiem had no idea where he was. Well, he sort knew, he was in the Portalocity Lounge, waiting for a shuttle to take him to his new school, which seemed to be as far away as the Emperor had been able to send him.

It could be worse, he supposed. He tried to hold on to that thought.

A large, glittery sign said FANDOM HIGH. It was hard to miss. Kiem sat down on a seat next to him and let the hoverchest that had floated next to him lower on to the floor.

He looked at his wristband. There was no connection, just some stored data available. We wasn't even going to be able to check the dartcar results.

That did not sound good!

Jon was not keen to get eaten by a goat demon.

"So that's. Right." Jon nodded. "Those are pretty good odds."

Hopefully Jon's standard luck wouldn't rub off on everyone else here.

He nodded again, mostly to himself, and tentatively climbed aboard, eyeing the noodle seats dubiously.
