BWI Airport Portalocity Lounge, Saturday morning

Kiem had no idea where he was. Well, he sort knew, he was in the Portalocity Lounge, waiting for a shuttle to take him to his new school, which seemed to be as far away as the Emperor had been able to send him.

It could be worse, he supposed. He tried to hold on to that thought.

A large, glittery sign said FANDOM HIGH. It was hard to miss. Kiem sat down on a seat next to him and let the hoverchest that had floated next to him lower on to the floor.

He looked at his wristband. There was no connection, just some stored data available. We wasn't even going to be able to check the dartcar results.

Why do I have a cold?

Despite having visited the island a few times back when Prompto was an actual student there, there had been an insistence that Gladio actually portal into the airport and take the shuttle, just like Prompto and Ignis had before him and uphold the grand tradition. Well. Far be it from him to go against something like tradition, but he hadn't exactly needed to be convinced, either.

He'd seen all those pictures of what Prompto and his sister did to that poor bus.

The chance to get to witness it with his own two eyes was an opportunity he was not going to pass up!

In fact, he couldn't help be a little amused by all of this as a whole, which was evident even as he found that glittery banner that denoted the waiting room, found a place to sling his bags (not that he would have minded lugging his sword around, but the nice thing about being able to magically summon your weapon is that you didn't really have to, and it saved a lot of trouble when dealing with airport security, too!), and then slung himself into a seat where he supposed he could just people watch and wonder if any of the students clamoring around today might wind up in any of his classes.

He definitely had a book close at hand in case his presumptions had been wrong and waiting for the shuttle actually got kind of boring, but he doubted, with this place, it would be needed.

He'd actually be disappointed if it was...

The Entities had pulled Jon through into nothingness and the edges of infinite worlds. He didn't know how long it lasted. Then he found himself...

In an airport?

He looked around, blinking and bewildered, and stumbled in the vague direction that seemed to be pulling him.

So please don't mind the scarred, disoriented man in the torn and bloodstained shirt wandering into the lounge.

Kiem glanced at the stranger who had just taken a seat next to him, and after just a brief hesitation said:

"Hi, so are you going to Fandom High too?"

Well, that was...not exactly what Gladio was expecting to see around here, and his head tilted a little with guarded intrigue as he watched the other man for a moment.

He'd be willing to go out on a limb and guess this wasn't a student, but whether or not he was someone else that should even be here...

"Hey, man," he finally said, getting up enough to approach with a black cloth held out, "looks like you may have gotten a little something on you there..."

"I...what?" Jon looked up (and up) at him, down at the cloth, and then seemed to register what he was saying. "Oh, um...thanks? There was a...well...I...thanks."

He took the cloth and scrubbed his (also bloody) hands with it, then futilely tried to get some of the blood out of his shirt. "I, uh...heh. I don't think there's any saving this."

Gladio huffed out a small laugh and briefly considered telling him that, yeah, he was enrolled up as a freshman, but let's be real, Gladio would have difficulty passing as a teenager even when he was this kid's age, forget about it now.

"That's the plan," he said instead. "You about to start up there yourself?"

Gladio shrugged. It was just one of many tank tops he had with him, and believe him when he said he woildn't be in the least bit heartbroken about having one less shirt to be worn.

"Pretty sure I passed a bathroom just down that way," he offered. "Might do a little more than that rag. But you alright, there? Need anything? Water? Food? Potion?"

A fucking phoenix down??

The ~~Cup Noodle on Wheels~~ bus pulled up in front of the airport.

So. Enjoy the dignity of your ride, everyone. At least the seats were comfortable?

Anakin was continuing his futile one-sided war with the hat that had stuck itself to his head as soon as he sat in the driver's seat.

He was going to kill himself a Prompto and a Nina, ohhh yes he was. "FANDOM HIGH!" he yelled, looking more than slightly murderous.

"That's the plan," Kiem returned. "Or the Emperor's plan, and I suppose I have to go along with it. I'm guessing you're not a student. Unless people there study for a long time. Or you're younger than you look. Not that there's anything wrong with either of that."

That was... unexpected. Kiem was going to go with unexpected, which wasn't bad, really.

"I'm going to Fandom High," he said, raising one hand while pushing a button on the hoverchest with the other to make it rise from the floor.

Anakin pulled out a clipboard. "Which one are you?"

"Kiem Tegnar."

He tried not to stare at the hat.

It was a very distracting hat.

"I'm Anakin Skywalker, the dean of students," Anakin said. You could tell by that aura of authority he was projecting.

Jo lugged her trunk and suitcase over, feeling rather awkward as she approached.

“Uh … hello?” she stammered, she was not expecting to see so many guys. Someone had missed the memo that Fandom High was co-Ed.

"Hello!" Kiem greeted her with a smile. "You're going to Fandom High too? Please, have a seat. It must be heavy to carry those bags."

Now that he thought about it, he seemed to be the only one with a hoverchest.

Kiem was used to his grandmother the Emperor, who also had quite an impressive aura of authority.

"It's nice to meet you! So this is the... shuttle?"

At least it matched the hat.

"Emperor?" Excuse Gladio if he was going to get maybe a little caught on that particular word, tone going a bit gruff with a disapproving furrow of his heavy brow. Yeah, yeah, yeah multiverse hub, he knee that, but it was literally his job to be overly cautious as he inspected the boy with newly critical eyes and a lift of his chin.

"So, where you from, kid?"

Don't forget the lovely shrimp aroma that was added at the last minute, either! In fact, the rumble of Gladio's stomach noticed that even before the bus, and when he caught sight of it?

He was going to need a moment, clutching his side and pretty sure he might die of laughter before making it anywhere near the island.

As someone who was used to being chauffeured to school in her fathers expensive cars, Jo was staring at the bus and forgetting herself for a moment, went, “oh my gosh!”

Then she was promptly mortified, “Um..,I’m Jo, er Josephine Jones, I’m going to Fandom High?”

Anakin sighed heavily. "It's normally more dignified."

The bus hasn't been dignified for years, Kiem.

"But yes, this will take us back to the school."

Anakin consulted his list and nodded. "Welcome. Do you prefer Jo or Josephine?"
