There was an easy, eager grin on Summer's face when everyone came into the classroom that day, a certain spark in her eye that she hoped could effectively make them start sweating, because it was very clear she was really excited to get into this week's pie, and hopefully, that should make them all worry at least a little bit.

"Hey, guys!" she greeted them brightly. "I hope you're ready for another exciting pie adventure, as we're headed to the Great Depression era with a little something called Mock Apple Pie. Because, you see, when times were a little rough, you got a little creative with things. An real apple pie requires a lot of apples, which might be hard to come by, but a mock apple pie brings the promise of tasting like an apple pie, while using much more affortable buttery crackers like Ritz and a whole lot less of it, too. Does it fulfil on this promise, though? That's what we're going to find out today. I mean, we can call it a mock apple pie all we want, but let's be honest, guys. Today's lesson is essentially a cracker pie."

So now you should know why she was so thrilled.

But, oh, just you wait, that was just the half of it.

"Let's get started!"

As far as the recipes in this class go, this one is pretty straight forward....once you sort of get over the fact that you're using crackers for your pie filling, anyway.

Which, you know...is a thing. That you're doing.

Stark was eyeing the ingredients suspiciously while putting the pie together but at least there wasn't anything particularly horrifying in the ingredients. This was just an odd combination of things. Very odd.

And so the pie is complete! And, according to the internet, unless you really botched it up, this thing is going to send you reeling because, as if by pure magic, the cracker pie actually does taste like an apple pie.

And that's the other half of it, because who doesn't love a legitimately good mind fuck like that?

After one hesitant bite Stark was now looking from the pie to Summer and back again. "I didn't think it would work."

But it did! ~~Magic!~~Science!

"I don't understand," Clare said around a mouthful. "Is it because apples taste like nothing?"

Who is looking smug as hell as if she was the one who discovered that you could somehow make crackers taste like apple pie.

Legitimately one of the first recipes where I'm actually really tempted to combat my own laziness and actually try it, because WHAT???? (Also, this recipe in particular is the whole reason for this class)

Also, this post brought to you by my cat, who seriously did not stop yelling at me the whole time, even after I put on squirrel videos to distract him. HE IS A SPOILED BABY OMG.

I also definitely want to try this but I'll need enough people around to make it worthwhile...
